Announcement   I scour estate sales, barn sales, flea markets, and antique markets in the mid-Atlantic region on a weekly basis to stock both my etsy shop and my booth in an antique mall. I hope to provide any and all items necessary for your mixed-media projects as well as a brazen collection of vintage flea-market finds, focusing mainly in '30s/'40s vintage.

I've been selling since 2005, and currently sell at Chartreuse & Co., a monthly barn sale in Frederick, MD, in the spring at the Lucketts Spring Market in Lucketts, VA, and at the Art & Soul Retreat in Virginia Beach.

In 2010, I co-wrote a book with advice on selling in antique mall (available in PDF form in my shop) and have appeared in a few magazines.

Please visit my blog to read about my junking adventures: http://vintagerescue.typepad.com (warning: it’s not for the faint of heart!)

About

I SWORE I'd never do this....

Growing up, nothing was more mortifying to me and my sister than Mom screeching to the side of the road to pick up some junk, or dragging us to an antique store. We cringed in the backseat, hoping no one would see us.

Decades later, we're both more-enthusiastic junkers than Mom ever was, and she's insanely jealous.

I've been scouring the tri-state DC area for about a decade, and have been selling as Vintage Rescue Squad since 2005. I primarily sell in an antique mall, but also at occasional flea markets and art-show vendor nights. I regularly hit estate sales, flea markets, barn sales, and travel a LOT for my wares—up and down the east coast, and even to Texas once a year!

The HOARD has nearly taken over my home, but since it's just me, no one can complain. I've got three armoires full of primo tiny junk ready to go on etsy, as well as a basement, guest room, and shed full. Within a few years, I hope to become the inaugural featured seller on etsy's debut of the "Quit That Accursed Day Job Already" series. Until then, I list when I can.

By day, I am an art director for a newspaper, so have a particular affection for cameras and typewriters!

If you see me at a flea market, throw a vintage typewriter at me or something. But be forewarned: I have pointy elbows and will arm-wrestle you for that black Repogle globe.....

There's nothing more thrilling than the hunt! I do everything for VRS, and have the tetanus shots and bruises to prove it. I have a personal Recommended Daily Allowance of rust and dust that is astoundingly high.

VRS welcomes you and hopes you can find most anything you need for your vintage needs, altered art and/or mixed-media pieces, or to satisfy your creative jones. If I don't have it, maybe I can find it for you. Please feel free to convo me! I just might have it in my stash....

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
All purchases are processed through etsy's Direct Checkout or Paypal. You can use your credit card using a guest account on Paypal—it's easy!
Shipping
Unless you indicate otherwise, orders will be shipped to the address you have on file with etsy/Paypal. Please check it prior to submitting an order and upon checkout! Anything returned to me due to an incorrect address will result in new shipping charges, which will be the responsibility of the buyer. There will be no shipping refunds on missing packages due to an incorrect address. Once a package is returned to me, you will be refunded the purchase price, minus the shipping charge, as the USPS was paid for attempting to ship.

I try to ship items within 24 hours. Due to my pesky day job, sometimes it will take a day or two. All items have accurate processing times included in the listing. In the case of multiple items, I will combine shipping and refund the difference (by the payment method you used).

All items are shipped through the USPS.

In keeping with my policy of reuse/recycle/redecorate, many of my shipping boxes and packing materials are recycled (but always clean). If you desire unused materials, please indicate so in your "note to seller".

In an effort to keep all prices as low as possible, I normally only include additional insurance/tracking for high-ticket items shipped within the US. Anything under $25 will not normally have tracking or insurance, unless the USPS shipping method includes it. If you require it for any reason, please convo me ahead of time. Of course, I will pay for it. International items will not have tracking or insurance, except at the discretion of VRS.

For international orders, customs fees and VAT charges are the responsibility of the buyer. These are fees your government imposes on its residents for items coming into your country. By law, I cannot pay them; they are your responsibility. VRS cannot be responsible for said charges. By your country's laws, they are your responsibility. UK purchases in particular have low thresholds. Etsy has recently changed some verbiage that may be confusing about VAT charges. As noted above, by law I CANNOT collect VAT charges as I am not an EU seller. Your VAT charges will be your responsibility, and levied to your country prior to picking up your item. Please send me a message if you have further questions.

International items cannot be marked as a "gift" in order to avoid VAT taxes or customs fees. It is a US law punishable by up to $10,000 or imprisonment up to 5 years.
Refunds and Exchanges
Refunds and exchanges will be made for unsatisfied customers, but must be shipped back at buyer's expense (with tracking for proof of receipt), as long as the item is returned in original condition. All payment processors (and etsy) dictate that refunds cannot occur until the item is returned. If your item arrives damaged, please photograph it WITH PACKAGING, so I have proof to submit to the post office and make a claim.
Additional policies and FAQs
As all my items are vintage, please take into account their age and condition. Many are purchased from estate sales, so I cannot guarantee they will be pet- and smoke-free, although I do not intentionally sell smelly items. Please convo me if you have any questions about condition prior to purchase!
