About

KOLORIZE - Laser Cut Signs - Made in Kansas City

Somewhere over the rainbow, a girl from Kansas lives life in full color. Wait. No, this isn’t that story. This one is mine. As a kid, I was always drawn to color and creating things that were unique and personal. Living in a creative home with parents who owned a small manufacturing business, I had access to all kinds of different supplies and tools. I was constantly inspired and trying new things. That was the beginning of my love for design and I spent my college and early career years honing those creative skills in design and merchandising. As an adult, the story isn’t all that different. This time I get to share it with you.

Over the years, our home has become a thoughtful collection of pretty vintage things combined with new personal favorites. Pops of color & beautiful shapes highlight the vintage modern style I love most. Not overly fussy or formal, the eclectic style makes a home feel fresh & fun! I believe in creating unique and personal spaces that have personality and style. Homes should be a reflection of their owners and showcase things that are personal and special to the family. Whether it’s a vintage piece that reminds you of your past or a custom sign that celebrates your future, surround yourself with things that tell your story.

What started as a part-time side business to share my love of vintage, turned into a full-time endeavor as of August 2012 and has continued to evolve since then. I’m so excited to expand my business and share my line of personalized and custom signs with you. Hard work and sheer determination have made this little shop come to life and there’s no better reward than doing what I love everyday. The best part is, my business has become a family affair connecting three generations. While I’m currently the sole designer and maker, the support of my family is felt everyday in what I do and I wouldn’t be where I am without them all. Whether it’s making a one-of-a kind sign or finding beautiful vintage product, I’d love to help make your home uniquely yours because as we all remember, there really is no place like home. Let's make it yours.

Frequently asked questions

How do you paint your signs? Do they show brushmarks?

All painted signs are professionally sprayed with a minimum of 4 coats of quality primer and paint on both front and back. That means you get an high quality, even and smooth paint job that's free of brush strokes.

What's the best way to paint my unfinished sign?

All unpainted signs come lightly sanded on all edges and are ready to be primed and painted. The edges will be dark from the cutting process but are easy to paint with a little prep. We recommend starting with a quality primer to seal the piece. Once that's dry, choose your favorite color to make it pop! Any type of paint will work so choose your favorite. Chalk paint, craft paint and spray paint are all good options. For brushed on paints, small, detail brushes work best for the edges and foam rollers for the front and back faces.

I'm confused on your sign sizing. How big will my name sign be?

Our word signs are available in 3 standard widths, regardless of the amount of letters in the word:
24" wide sign
36" wide sign
48" wide sign

The sign heights will vary depending on the font you choose and the number of letters in your word. A good rule of thumb is the fewer amount of letters in the word, the taller it will be in proportion to the width selected. Here are some height estimates based on past work.
24" wide signs are approximately 6.5" to 15.5" tall
36" wide signs are approximately 7" to 20.5" tall
48" wide signs are approximately 15.5" to 21.5" tall

If needed, send us your word and font selection for a specific height measurement.

I don't know what font I want. Can you send me a sample before I purchase?

Absolutely! Let us know your word and which fonts are you favorite so we can send over those options for you to review. After you make your final font selection, we'll be happy to get specific height measurements for your choice.

I'm in a pinch and need my sign ASAP! Can you rush my order?

Our standard processing times are pretty fast at 7-10 business days but in the event you need it like NOW, send us a message and we'll see what we can do. We try our best to squeeze projects in when necessary or we use expedited shipping to meet your deadlines. Rush fees and upgraded shipping charges may apply.

Do you cut custom signs using other logos or designs?

Absolutely! Besides our standard selection of signs, we also cut small business logos, charity event signage, handwritten calligraphy words and more. We'll need your file in vector form to make it happen. Send us your vector and project specifics to hello@kolorizesigns.com for more information.

How do I hang my sign?

-All 1/4" thick signs have no hanging hardware included. 3M double sided mounting tape is a good option for hanging. You can find it at most big box retailers.

-All 1/2" thick signs are ready to hang on keyholes cut in back.
