About

The start of VintageStreet

I am a retired analytical chemist, and have always loved old things, and fixing things. When the company I was employed by for 33 years outsourced my department, I ended up taking early retirement. The up side of this was that it enabled me to combine these two things that I enjoy, and I started restoring vintage jewelry as a hobby, which later turned into my shop here on Etsy. I get a lot of satisfaction from taking pieces of vintage jewelry that are damaged in some manner, and restoring them to their original appearance so that once again someone can enjoy these beautiful works of art from the past.

All of the restoration work that I do is performed under a stereo microscope, which allows precise placement of new vintage stones, and cleaning of any old yellowed glue from remaining original stones and the surrounding finish.

In addition to restoring vintage jewelry, I love to read and collect old things, as evidenced by my fossil collection; which continues to grow, and my collection of ancient Greek and Roman coins, that I have hand cleaned myself.
