About

The birth of Vintage Twists

How did all this start?
I've been a bargain hunter of second hand clothes since I was very little, but it blossomed when I was a teenager trying to find my own 'look' that was a bit different. My experiments accumulated. I ran out of space. Then I would have a big throw out every few years and share my spoils with my friends.

I had a summer of making vintage brooches out of found objects and vintage bits and bobs. I randomly set up a stall at International Women's Day festivities and decided to include some of my thrifted clothes as well. They flew out the door. Realising there was a market (and having plenty of thinking time while I sold almost no brooches) I decided to open my first etsy store, starting with the brooches.

An ex drama student of mine had recently started posting photos of shoots she had been involved in and after we chatted I was somehow in a whirlwind of having my vintage goodies photographed professionally with the help of models.

From there I spent a year peddling my wares at vintage markets on weekends, which kind of broke my back (literally three protruding disks as a result of lugging all that stuff). Now it stays at home and I am slowly attempting to photograph and list it all in this 'lil shop.

I have a real job - it's a fairly consuming time eating job, but this shop is where my heart is - this is my creative outlet.

It is my dream to one day set up my own bricks & mortor shop on my favourite Island paradise - Bali. Many years away yet - but one must have dreams!

Shop policies

Last updated on November 10, 2013
I hand select all of my clothing from thrift stores and friends. If the item is washable, I do so, but I do not dry clean precious items. If an item is not in a condition to sell then I do not sell it.

I mend minor repairs such as hems and seam, but I do not alter items into mini's. I prefer to sell my clothing in its original state.

Very occassionally I will upcycle, but only if something is beyond repair back to its original state.

Accepted payment methods

Shipping
Shipping is calculated after consultation with Australia Post.
Parcels within Australia are shipped Express post. This allows for tracking of the parcel.

American buyers unfortunately Articles over 453g and all ECI and EPI services will be subject to an additional $9 security surcharge, which I have already included in the shipping charges.I try to keep my prices reasonable to compensate for this.

International shipping quotes are as accurate as possible.
I always refund postage over-quotes if the price is significantly less than what I have stated.
Refunds and Exchanges
I will happily refund the purchase price if the item is significantly different to that which I have stated. I do not refund the postage price and ask that you return the item to me before I refund.

Please ask questions before purchase.
I am reluctant to refund on colour issues, due to the difference in display of colour monitors. Please check for colour questions on an item before purchasing.
I do not like unhappy customers, so please do message me if you are unhappy with your purchase and I'll see what I can do!
