Create what you love!

I love to find kinda ugly old dresses that somehow speak to me... they tell me "hey, I'm not so bad! Give me a new life!' And so I rescue them and redesign them into something fresh and beautiful. But I couldn't possibly wear all these new little ladies, and they started piling up around the place, and I started wondering, what am I making it all for? But I just didn't want to stop!

Then I discovered the wonderful art of needle felting. I was a natural at this craft from the start, and soon enough, those started piling up too! I had heard about Etsy and decided it was time to give my pieces a chance at life. And so VirginiaMopFair was born!

So here we are! I hope you like what you see, and know that everything I make, I make with love. The dresses and the wool and whatever else I dabble in, they all tell me what they want to be... nothing is contrived. I have started adding "before and after" photos so you can see the journey! Since almost everything I make is one-of-a-kind, I invite you to check out the "sales" section to see the precious darlings that have already found a new home... think of it as a gallery of sorts. I also have a few vintage pieces from time to time that were not altered by me... they caught my eye just as they are and I wanted to bring them to you.

Next year my husband and I plan to start traveling the world by bicycle... it will be tough to keep VirginiaMopFair going, but I'll certainly try! Who knows what wonderful things will inspire me from the road. I am very excited and happy to have your support... blogs are soon to come!

Thanks for checking me out, and send me a message any time about anything... I love to chat with fellow Etsy lovers!

***Hello all! My shop is temporarily closed because I am traveling to Central America with my husband via bicycle! Feel free to follow us at I will be needle felting and watercolor painting along the way and may post some of those items here. Send me a message any time!***

All of the items at VirginiaMopFair have been handmade or up-cycled with much thought, love and care. I hope you enjoy viewing or owning them as much as I enjoy creating them!

Many items are made from all natural fibers. Many others are made of 50 - 100% up-cycled or recycled materials. Most are OOAK (one of a kind). Check out each item's details for a little bit about the materials, where/how they were found, and how the piece was constructed.

If you have any special requests, please don’t hesitate to ask. I specialize in redesigning used or vintage dresses, so if you have something that needs restyling, convo me!

I am happy to gift wrap and send a little note card to the gift recipient.

Please convo me before purchase if you would like the gift sent to another address, so I can set up an appropriate shipping rate for you.

Otherwise, please request gift wrapping in the ‘instructions to seller” section when purchasing, along with what you would like to say exactly in the note.

The nature of vintage or up-cycled ingredients or natural fibers is that there may be some flaws present. I make note in the item description if any part of it appears worn or discolored. Often times this adds to the character of the piece, and I have used the ingredient because of this detail. Please consider the item description before purchasing.
