About

Playing with Fire!

Lampworking or Flameworking is the art of manipulating hot glass with a torch. The glass is melted inches away from the artist's face in a torch that can reach 4,500 degrees F. Because the glass is heated form a cold state there is no need for a crucible and larger kilns, so the studio can be small and built at home.

My name is Kenny Talamas and I make my sole living by creating glass art and selling it here on Etsy, on eBay and from my own web site.
You can also find my work in a few galleries across the United States.
Over the years I have worked with other glass artists and visited many shops to develop my own personal perspective. I have moved from Florida to Oregon and built many Glass Studios at Home along the way.

Allison, my wife and business partner also makes her sole living here at Vortex GlassWorks. She makes Beads, Jewelry components, and Marbles as well as
some of my prep-work. Together, we do all of the production, marketing, photography, and shipping from our Home in Oregon.

We also are proud to work with and offer the Glass creations of Eli and Tim Mazet.

We are currently fixing up a 1947 house and studio off the coast of Oregon and hope to
have a Baby one day soon!

Your purchase will fuel the fire and allow us to continue to be Independent Artists!
We believe Life Is Art , so any profits that are made after our bills are paid will be used to support other Artists as well as Organic Food producers and business with sustainable practices as much as possible.

We use recycled and biodegradable shipping materials collected from local businesses.

I'm a Full Time Flameworker. I've been "playing with fire" for about 16 years now. In 1998 I learned the craft of Lampworked (Flameworked) Glass from Robert Mickelson at the Penland School of Crafts. I am very grateful!

  • Allison Byrd

    Artist

I'm also a Full Time Flameworker! I learned the craft from Kenny after watching him for many years. I've been playing with fire for about 9 years now and I love it! I am currently making Beads, Jewelry components, and Marbles.

  • Eli and Tim Mazet

    Artist

Eli Mazet and Tim Mazet are brothers and have been flameworking glass since 2000. They were originally initiated into glass by their older brother Josh Mazet. The Mazet brothers have received many awards for their innovative glass designs
