Shipped super fast and seller was able to accommodate me modifying my order to a larger quantity in a clever way with a reserved auction for the difference. My wife loves the charms! Thank you!

About

Making Wine Charms from Clay

In 2010 my friends and I were wine tasting and crafting for our friend's rustic wedding in the Redwoods. We were discussing wine tags for her 60 guests. The dragonfly, her iconic symbol, was the clear choice. I was just beginning ceramic jewelry at the time and although I was thinking paper wine tags, the bride-to-be thought I meant ceramic wine charms. I had no idea how to take on such a daunting task, but was prepared for the challenge. So at that wedding, the first ceramic wine charms were born. They looked stunning, however a little bit fragile.

Since then I have changed and evolved my technique to the wine charms of today. The designs are strong and thoughtfully crafted. I select from 3 different clays and 2 different finishes to achieve just the desired look. Most of my designs are made with a natural color clay and a soft matte glaze. These have a rustic look that compliments the ceramic medium so well. I also use a white clay with a glossy finish. These have a more traditional look of ceramic. I use this look for the simple charms and black and white themes. Finally I use a very rough white clay for my bugs and sea life. The clay and impressions remind me of fossils, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to create with such an unusual medium.

My studio is a corner of a table in a small apartment in San Francisco. I live with my husband and son who use other corners of the table for their projects: including but not limited to drawing, watchmaking and letterpress printing.
