Western Specter ships worldwide from a smoke-free, cat-friendly home in rural Northern California. Orders are typically dispatched in 1–2 business days using the United States Postal Service. Any delay in shipping will be noted in the shop announcement at top.
Standard shipping for domestic orders is FREE. All other shipping & handling costs are calculated automatically based on the buyer's location, preferred shipping method, and order's weight and size. Overages exceeding $2 are rounded to the whole dollar and refunded.
If you would like to add Insurance or Signature Confirmation to your order, please contact me prior to completing your purchase. I am not responsible for items that are lost or damaged in transit.
Returns and exchanges
Unless an item has been significantly misrepresented, ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
Great care is taken to accurately describe each item in the shop. To avoid purchasing an item that does not meet your expectations, please carefully read its description for information regarding style, color, size, and condition. I also recommend looking at all of the images provided using the 'zoom' feature. I am more than happy to answer questions and provide additional photographs of any item in the shop. If you receive an item that you feel has been misrepresented, do not hesitate to contact me.
Item condition
All items carried by Western Specter are at least twenty years old. They are vintage; they are not new; they have likely been used and may show signs of age and wear.
Mint
Flawless condition. As pristine as it was on the day of original purchase.
Near Mint
Near perfect condition, showing only the slightest signs of age and wear. May only have been used once or twice by the previous owner(s).
Excellent
Sound in structure and appearance with minor signs of age and wear.
(Very) Good
Some evidence of wear with one or more minor flaws.
Fair
Wearable with 'character' – more significant wear and flaws that may be beyond repair.
Sizing details
Vintage clothing and shoes tend to run small. For this reason, I ask that you not assess the fit of a garment or pair of shoes by its marked size. Instead, please compare the measurements listed in the item's description with those of a similar item already in your possession (see how-to guides below).
All measurements are given in inches and all sizes listed are US, unless otherwise specified. Sometimes two sizes are noted in an item's description to give you a better idea of how it fits.
If you have any questions, please reach out.
Measuring clothing
All measurements are approximate and taken using a soft measuring tape with the garment lying flat.
Chest
Across chest (~1 inch below underarm), doubled.
Shoulder
Shoulder seam to seam, across upper back.
Sleeve
Top of shoulder or underarm to end of sleeve.
Waist
Across waist, doubled.
Hip
Across widest part of hips or base of fly, doubled.
Rise
Crotch seam to top of waistband.
Inseam

Length
Top of garment (waist, shoulder, nape of neck) to bottom hem.
Measuring footwear
How to measure footwear:
Insole
Feed soft measuring tape into shoe. While holding one end at toe, use other hand to press length of tape back to heel. Hold finger where insole and heel meet, then carefully slide tape out and read measurement.
Base Length
Place end of measuring tape against flat wall. Place shoe on top of tape with heel against wall. Read measurement at toe.
Width
Across widest part of outsole.
Heel
Heel height, top to bottom.
Shaft Height (Boots)
Top of heel to top of boot.
