Cool wand! The recipient was delighted. Speedy ship too! The paper attached wasn't preferred - just for my particular needs - so I had to remove it. It would have been better maybe just in an envelope in the box? Very happy the purchase!

The wands are even more beautiful in person, the colors and attention to detail are amazing! They arrived quickly and were beautifully packed, I love the little story scrolls that come with each :) thank you!
Magic Sticks begin as branches, from several different kinds of trees, that I have found in my yard in Savannah, Georgia, or on walks around my neighborhood. Power Sticks begin as driftwood discovered on the beaches of coastal Georgia. These downed limbs and washed-ashore driftwood seemed worthy of another life. Magical for their natural features and various imperfections, the branches and driftwood possess distinctive qualities that make each special from the moment of discovery.
I do not alter the sticks very much from the condition I found it in. With Magic Sticks, I rinse off the dirt, chip away any loose bark and trim to desired length (which typically ranges between 18 and 30 inches). For Power Sticks, I simply wash the sand off the driftwood. From there, the stick's texture, bumps and all, help guide the flow of paint, enhancing its uniqueness and adding to its charm and character. All Wandwoods are coated with a protective varnish.
Each Wandwood takes about one week to create, though a few extra days are usually required for the longer ones. After a Magic Stick is discovered, cleaned and trimmed, I apply three coats of base white. I then paint the color stripes freehand (no masking tape or guides) using a variety of acrylics. Depending on the color, each strip requires an additional layer or two of paint. The next step involves applying details (including the Hopewellian tribal mark). Finally, I apply a coat of varnish, adding both shine and protection to the Magic Stick.
Each multicolored Power Stick wand begins as a salvaged beach driftwood and takes about one week to create as well. After rinsing off the sand. I paint the beach driftwood freehand using acrylics. Finally, I apply a coat of varnish, adding both shine and protection to the Power Stick.
Wandwoods also features another whimsical and colorful piece of art: Potion Jars. Made from recycled glass, Potion Jars can be used as either decorative decor or practical art (vases, pencil holders, coin jars, etc.). After painting the interior of the glass Potion Jars, I apply a coat of varnish, adding protection to the vibrantly painted Potion Jars.
As decorative modern art, Wandwoods adds a splash of color and magic to your home or office. An attractive addition to a bookshelf, mantle, coffee table or desk (to name but a few display possibilities), a Magic Stick, Power Stick or Potion Jar is sure to be a point of interest in any space. You choose how to display the beauty of these three-dimensional upcycled art pieces.
In addition, Wandwoods features collaborative paintings with the poet Chester Hopewell through a series titled "Archetypes," highlighting the ways, culture and message of the Hopewellians.
