Announcement    Please see here for order info help in general: Etsy store almost totally updated to allow for steady viewing of listing's online via search engines, more available ease of ordering, and flexible time-frame adjustment's for customer (and shop) convenience, as well as mitigating covid and other possible contingencies. Each listing provides new preliminary purchase details that may be of help to you in planning and or buying... At times my available inventory can vary by wide degrees. Things that have an approximate 2-4 week time-frame range are generally not in stock. I am always in the process of making the smaller fountains and other art, but some other designs with longer shipping durations take more time and often have to be made totally from scratch, and so are set further back in time for shipping.
If a special date or time is needed for your order, please let me know so I can try to prioritize it for you, and/or try accommodate your needs as best as can be attempted to do.

I am a "staff of one" and appreciate all inquiries, and will do my best to respond as soon as, and if possible. I wish I could send everyone a personal Thank You for sharing my art with others (however you choose to share it!) be it through a review here or in person or through any other channel... Though I never have that expectation for customers as my focus is getting you the best art possible for your enjoyment, I always nonetheless, wholeheartedly appreciate the very gracious kindnesses bestowed past and present, as well as interest in my work (amid the pandemic too) and I want to wish everyone out there my very best and safest well wishes. Thank you!

Handcrafted Copper Fountains, Sculpture and Art

I have been creating copper fountains and sculptures full time since 2004. All artwork is made from 100% percent high grade copper. They are strong and sturdy, made in the finest quality possible, with top of the line copper materials; and since copper is a timeless metal, my pieces are made to last for many, many years to come. I hand cut, shape, hammer, braze with a gas torch, sand, and use specialty acid applications and torch heated reactions for patina color contrasts, so there is no paint involved with most pieces (a few designs I like to add hints of paint on for specific accents) on the copper, and all the variety of colors are produced entirely through chemical reactions on the metal.

I use nearly every piece of copper I buy, and over time designs have been honed; intended to be as aesthetically pleasing in equal proportion to how they are proficiently produced, this coupled with lifelong experience, passion and dedication for making art, allows me to offer them at competitive prices. I go so far as to consider my shipping an art too and do my best to make sure each item is packaged as well as it can be done.

Thanks so much for stopping by and viewing my artwork!

Shop policies

Last updated on February 17, 2021
Greetings! Thank you for visiting the online store here.

A brief summary of information:

CARE INFO:

- Copper fountains and art can last for many years - decades and more, so foremost I consider Copper Care Information of paramount importance in having or considering getting a copper fountain or other piece of copper art, so this link goes to my primary website, where comprehensive information is available to view:

(A complete copy of this info has been added here below inside the Additional Policies and FAQs section, however it is visually easier to see and has photos on my primary website above here.)

<This is not just about maintenance, and also contains information about copper effects over short and long term time periods in regard to water fountains and other art; it has safety info and can also be a viable source for help with other fountain types and so is not limited purely in scope to copper itself.

HOURS and AVAILABILITY:

I am a company of one with no staff and do everything myself, and this can result in more time being taken up to handle some things. While I tend to be busy in variable and fluctuating ways, I will nonetheless do my best to be of help to you as soon as I can do so.

I am an "online only" artist and business and as such do not post hours of operation and am not open to the public. On that note, being able to pick-up art from me instead of shipping is not available. I appreciate how such things can be helpful and so I apologize for any inconvenience this may present to you and appreciate your understanding in advance. All items here are set to ship. I do have options on that but some require an inquiry to obtain. (Please see shipping for more info).

COMMUNICATION FORMAT:

Email is my preferred way to communicate and conduct business and so I do not have a phone number available or listed for such things. The best and preferred way to contact me is through email, preferably on Etsy by using their Conversation application they have in place here, as that helps make managing your order via Etsy with me easier to do. If that is not convenient, my primary email works too and is joseph [!at] thecopperfountain.com

CUSTOM WORK:

Each order is equally important to me, and custom work at this point in my art career, be it small or large in dimensions, requires an abundance of time (and/or cost to do) and so I rarely can or do much of it now or offer it as a regular or constant part of my art. In conjunction and upon careful consideration, I also restructured it into a more operationally manageable form. Thank you for considering me as a potential source for bringing your idea to life. For more in-depth information detail on custom work please visit my main website at:

www.thecopperfountain.com/custom-work-1

PERSONALIZING and/or SPECIAL ORDERS ARTWORK:

Thank you for considering having me make something extra special for you or another. While this is akin to custom work I base this on operating off of pre-existing designs seen and available here and not on creating a whole new artwork design from scratch, and so, if possible and I have time to, I am happy to try to accommodate small modifications to existing design's, e.g. replacing a Dragonfly with a Butterfly, cattails for a leaf vine, or similar simpler things of that nature, such as replacing one flower or leaf for another type, ect. and so, with relatively equal material and time changes to design accent parts, I do not have extra cost's involved or add them for customers to modify such decorative components-- but since time is scarce for me in multiple ways please try to keep such requests as modest as possible.

<Extra info for contemplating potential modifications: depending on the request, it can or may effect the shipping timeframes, and if it disproportionally alters the relative amount of material and time involved to do it, it could also dramatically increase the item purchase cost's and/or shipping if the overall size changes. However, I will do my best to help you if and when I can and appreciate your interest and understanding. Thank you.>

Please see below for more clarity and explanation about my process in regard to exchange and refund policies:

While I've always had plans to grow as a business; though I sometimes have been ahead of things in that regard, I am an individual artist, and do everything myself, from designing, creating, to customer service and shipping, and so it's just me with no staff, and I appreciate your business, and if need be, patience, as it can take time for me to get to things. Nonetheless I strive to do the best I can for each customer in all ways possible and feasible on each and every order every time out.
Thank you!
Payment
- I accept all payment methods provided through Etsy's site.

- In regard to sales tax this is independently handled by Etsy by proxy for sellers here and so these costs are based on your particular state and area and not a result of individual sellers managing them.

- With my best apologies I am not open to the public and so do not collect any sales revenue in-person outside of online sales, and remain an online only business.

- In addition to that I am also not available for local pick-up by customers and I'm sorry for any inconvenience this could result in, and in advance appreciate your understanding about his policy I have.

<This is also my workshop standard that is not related to Covid-19 but certainly helps mitigate any such inadvertent potential health problem issues due to the Virus. On that note, copper itself is the best natural material for killing microbes and does so faster than other surfaces, including the novel Covid-19 virus, so the things I make are extra safe in that scope capacity too.
Shipping
BRIEF SUMMARY (please see more in-depth details after bullet-point summary)

-Shipping is done via USPS but FedEx is another option but it is only available on request. USPS is the only auto-rate shipping calculator Etsy uses. (Please note USPS raised rates over a year ago, and calculates boxes over a 12" cube at higher rates, so these are the best shipping prices that can be obtained for you. FedEx is comparable for small fountain boxes but may be less for medium and is less for large fountain boxes. Please see further shipping details for FedEx prices and shipping).

-Tracking emails are sent after getting your shipping for you on your art. Tracking does not work until the Post Office scans in the items, so your package being trackable can vary by few days or less, and is dependent on my varying schedules and when I deliver them to the Post Office. (Same with FedEx)

- I put a great amount of care and work into packing all artwork items. As such each item here has a box and packaging cost included in the shipping total. This aspect is very important to me so that your art can travel safely and arrive in goods shape and I have many years of experience doing it, so I am confident as well as cautious about it for customer and myself.

- Please monitor your tracking. Items are delivered routinely without a signature required for pick-up, and so they are left in their designated place by the shipper and then cataloged as "delivered" and completed by them.
<I cannot and do not take financial responsibility for items that are lost after having been delivered. If this is a concern for you please request a signature on delivery be added to your order to protect against any such unfortunate incident occurring and I will add it to your shipping order in advance of sending it>

-Items are insured against loss or damage.

- If lost or damaged purchased artwork cannot be refunded monetarily and can only be replaced with artwork of equal design and value.
This is a process that takes a lot of time to manage and do and one I go out of my way to mitigate and prevent from happening. I have rarely ever had this event take place for a customer, but if it does, please notify me immediately so I can start working on resolving it, and read the article below for more specific details on this subject as it is complicated buy the nature of how shipping carriers offer and provide these services as well as my own policies and capabilities in regard to that subject.

- Gifts:
If a special date or time is needed on shipping your art, (such as a Birthday, Anniversary, or another special day) please let me know in advance, as I will do my best to accommodate it if possible with in the time frame and selected shipping method listed. Or I will certainly try to let you know in advance if it is not possible for you to get your desired art by the date you want. Upon request, I will also let you know of additional expedited shipping options, which cost more, and have to paid in advance of shipping, that are modes of transit that can expedite delivery in a much faster way.

Although I cannot guarantee items will arrive before a certain date, as once they leave here it is out of my hands, I will nonetheless try hard to get them on their way asap so they have the best chance of arriving on time for you. Most of the time (Covid-19 delays not withstanding) the shipping carriers are great at accomplishing those things and have other expedited options available too.

- Privacy:
I do not use or share your personal information for and from shipping in any way (including phone numbers if applicable) whatsoever (marketing and otherwise, ect.) other than it's intended purpose of getting your artwork to you. (Optionally if you would like the shipping carrier to have a contact phone number for you to help make finding you or notifying you easier, please send it to me, and I will add it to your order info if possible with the particular carrier.

MORE IN-DEPTH INFORMATION ON PRESTATED SHIPPING TOPICS ABOVE:

I process the majority of shipping first online and so auto-tracking emails are immediately sent to you upon getting your shipping paid on your behalf for your art. Often due to my schedules and being one person, the times that I can get things taken to the shipping company can vary and so your package may not be trackable until it is officially physically scanned into the shipper's system. I personally wait in line to get this done safely and logged in so that your art can get moving faster while also being trackable at the soonest time possible, however do to my varying schedules the times I have for physically getting your art packed, and delivered to the shipper I can't guarantee exact times I will have it out by but always try to do my best to adhere to the basic shipping timelines provided here upon purchase.

The Etsy auto-generated emails contain shipping details and direct links to their online tracking system via USPS.com (or FedEx) and it is best and most helpful to utilize it to monitor your packages transportation to your location along with getting a pretty good ETA for it's arrival.

At this time I ship items via USPS and (on request) FedEx Ground. Etsy does not have an Auto-Rate Calculator available at purchase for FedEx, and this is not something a Seller here on Etsy can control (especially with their standard shop; the kind I use) so by default USPS is the standard shipping provider/company available here. However, if you would like and/or prefer having your item sent via FedEx the only to do that in advance of buying artwork is to write and request a cost specific to your location (please include your zip code and specific item of interest) you are interested in getting, and then this cost can be sent to you to review and consider ahead of buying, and/or it can also be modified on your artwork listing before making a purchase.

Priority Mail, (not including the delays encountered due to Covid-19 staffing shortages) is by and far the most viable option in regard to being the fastest, and most economically effective shipping option available should you want your item to travel faster. (As a general rule I try to upgrade each item to Priority Mail at no cost whenever possible for customers whether they had selected it or not to help get you artwork quicker. If any price difference is applicable after changing to Priority Mail leaving an extra balance owed to you, it is then refunded as possible and applicable). I have been utilizing the U.S. Mail for a few years now and have found that they do a great job. If you want your item to go quicker this is the best choice available! (On that note I have also utilized fedEx for many years though less for some time now, and prefer them over other private shipping carriers, and so those are the only two shipping option's I have available for customers for most items that are not too big to require freight shipping. If you'd information about extra large sized item shipping please read to the end of this section as more info is available on that topic too).

If you have already bought something and then requested a FedEx cost comparison after buying artwork, and there ends up being a difference owed to you from requesting and selecting FedEx after already paying the USPS rate, the difference (if any) will refunded to you.

Generally most box sizes are similar in cost between the two carriers. However some things have varying prices based on different and/or farther off location's; e.g. such as with FedEx Hawaii and Alaska can cost more than USPS on most similar box sizes. The same is true if your location is one that is far off a more easily accessible and/or less populated area. The prime exceptions I've noted for the box sizes and weights I use for items is for the medium and large size fountains, where FedEx can often be be much less in cost. Most other items all are with-in a competitively similar pricing zone and range to one another.

If you would like a shipping cost specific to your location, before purchasing please email us about it with the piece you're interested in, and we will get you a quote and adapt the shipping to your order before you buy.

Please Note about adding a Signature Confirmation to your shipment:

Copper is an expensive medium to work in and though i have competitive prices they still cost a pretty penny to create and to buy!
As a standard I send your art with no signature required for delivery, and the Post Office (or FedEx when applicable) will leave it at the appropriate place. They then identify and note the item as "delivered", and at such a time it is then completed by them and also seen by me (and customer tracking info) as being delivered and fulfilled. Thankfully the vast majority of the time this works for any package sent by companies, but with copper being expensive I recommend asking me at check out or before, to have a Direct Signature required at delivery to ensure your fountain safely arrives to you. I cannot bear any responsibility for lost packages that the Post Office (or other shipping carriers) have already delivered. There is an extra cost involved in having a Signature set for pick-up but if requested by the customer I will include that at no charge upon handling your shipping.

<Although optional, if you'd like extra contact info to help a carrier find your location please provide an email and/or phone number as I will put that into the shipping information for you upon getting your shipping. I value others privacy including my own and do not share this information with anyone for any reason outside of what has been stated for, upon your request to do so, in and for only facilitating shipping for you.>

Each shipment I send is Insured against damage or loss via the carrier I use -- which for the most part is USPS -- however this does not apply in situation's where they have delivered a package to the address, but after that point the package was somehow lost. For the most part this rarely ever happens, and having a Signature may not be convenient , and so this information is placed here to not only outline my policy on such things but also to be of extra help to you in deciding how you want your artwork best delivered.

Though customers pay in advance through Etsy to the store here, the entire cost of shipping including box and packaging costs, in the rare event that a piece of art were to be damaged in transit and arrives as such, the person or entity purchasing the insurance (that being myself on your behalf) is the one responsible for filing whatever claim may be appropriate for an event such as: 1) the shipper losing the package in route and before it reaches it's destination, or 2) the item arrives in damaged condition as a result and/or occurrence during transit to it's destination. I pack everything with great care and attention to detail and take a good amount of time doing so to protect my customer's investment in their artwork as well as the time involved that it takes me to create such things, let alone the material cost, but if such an unfortunate (however unlikely) event were to happen, please alert me as soon as you can about it, so that I can start the process on resolving and/or rectifying the situation.

Carrier rules regarding claims vary and this may require you to send me photos of the original box and packing material and the item showing the damage it sustained and perhaps more. As a policy I will base that on the particular shipping companies requirement's and rules for managing such things.

In the interim of sorting that out, I cannot refund any monetary amount from the purchase, but will send you replacement artwork of an equal design and value from the original art you bought, once the issues around any claim are resolved and affirmed, so that I can do so. Naturally this is the last sort of situation I would want anyone including myself to be in, but rest assured if it does happen I will do my best to manage and take care of it as effectively and quickly as can be done under whatever circumstances may surround such an event. This type of thing can be a lengthy process to manage and is no fun for anyone to go through so I thoroughly take care in all actions I take and do in regard to such matters, not limited to pack your artwork as well as it can be done so it's far less likely to happen at all. On that note, lest I cause any worry, this is something that I have very rarely if ever seen here through Etsy and for the most part shipping goes smoothly. Nonetheless I am here to help if need be.

I do my best to promptly send out your piece of art after receiving payment, by the date indicated, though at very busy times it is possible that an order can go over the expected delivery date. I also do my best to communicate with you when this arises. If you would like it sent sooner than the specified date, please let me know by adding notes to your order and also send an Etsy Conversation so I'll be sure to catch your needs and address them as best as as I can; proceeding with utmost diligence to help get it sent sooner if and as possible.

And last but not least, I tend to be very busy with varying frequency so please bear with me as I will do best to be of service to you as soon as possible for me accomplish. Thank you.

EXTRA LARGE FOUNTAINS AND/OR SCULPTURE AND ARTWORK:

-If buying (or having purchased an oversized item) that is too large for standard shipping modes, the purchaser assumes responsibility for all shipping cost;, but I will help manage and facilitate the process so it is as seamless and smooth as possible for you with your artwork.

For fountains and artwork greater in size than the Large Table Fountains can still be sent in an Oversize category. The largest box size that can be sent before an item is too large to go (except by freight) is around 34 to 40" inches in height, and 24x24" to 30x30" wide. This puts the maximum fountain height at 36" inches with a max bowl diameter or reservoir width of 26" inches. (After this size of box any item would have to be sent by freight). For any size of fountain or other artwork in this general size range it is best to get a quote ahead as shipping can vary with destination locations, and so sending a zip code (a city or town location is helpful too) for a shipping quote in advance of buying is the best way to proceed. Depending on the size and location extra large items can ship from $150.00 to $350.00 via ground options.

ENORMUS/HUMONGOUS FOUNTAINS AND/OR ARTWORK:

Fountains and art that can be too large for even "oversize" shipping (about 3x3 ft. and up in size) require freight conveyance, and often crate boxes are put outside of the range for being able to be shipped via normal FedEx Ground (along with other carriers) since they are too large in size according to their size thresholds, and so cannot fit with in such routine and more common shipping parameters. In such instances when an item is too large for normal modes of transport, having a crating and freight shipment company help is the best option available.

I am happy to utilize the services of Craters and Freighters of Phoenix Arizona for such needs. Although the big shipping companies offer freight services too, Craters and Freighters have not only the best service, but they also have the best rates one can find anywhere, which includes full service packing and insurance. This company will work separately for you, and they are dedicated to making shipping large items the overall best experience it can be anywhere, with top notch customer service to go with it all. Before buying please contact them for a quote to your destination, or make an inquiry with me for getting one, and either way this is done I do my best help facilitate the process of getting set-up with them for your shipping needs. I then help with having them pick-up the item or deliver it to them for you (unless it's too large for me to do) when applicable and possible.

For "extra large over sized" items and boxes I can only help facilitate shipping when a customer is set-up with Craters and Freighters with Payment and Billing Information in advance to either help with appointments for pick-up, or make time to deliver the item. They are quite far from me so it's best to be prepared in advance... So with all that said, here on Etsy they are listed only with example shipping prices, but that is only due to the varying costs of freight from place to place in the U.S. It is preferable to handle such things in advance, but if not done so in an instance/order shipping can be adjusted here before or after a purchase.

It is best and preferable to have those aspects handled before purchasing and then have them managed by the freight company for you. This way you can get different options from them as well delivery options and know your overall price before making the decision to purchase this fountain from me.
<Please note: by purchasing very Large Waterfall Fountain here, you agree to handle shipping through your own means and method as well as all costs involved with it, with myself delivering your art to your chosen provider or helping your shipper pick-up your item for you. I try to help make this as easy to do>

Adjusting your shipping costs on the store here:

Items are shown with shipping costs to help display a general notion of potential costs. I can edit the listing in advance (or refund shipping if need be) to reflect $0.00 shipping costs, but again this is best done ahead of time if and whenever possible. If Etsy ever adds a method for getting gargantuan item shipping quotes in an auto-calculator, I will use it, but until then on very large pieces I have to go about it this way, and apologize for the extra extraneous complexity of ordering large pieces here.

All that is needed to do with me is to send me the Order Number you have with them, and I can then deliver your fountain to them to have it prepped for making its way to you. Since freight costs can vary by location please do not buy this fountain until having a quote in hand as well being set-up with them. They have the best rates you will find anywhere and are experts in packing art and other special items which are large and/or with specific shipping needs, which is why I have been using them for years to assist customers.

(A great example of their expertise is that they are the exclusive shipper of the renowned Barrett Jackson Automobile show in Scottsdale, Az., and they ship everything from Furniture to Cars worldwide!)

I greatly appreciate your interest and business, and this will help make everything go the quickest and smoothest for getting your waterfall fountain out and on its way! Having a quote in hand prior to buying is the recommended way to proceed. They can help you over the phone or you can use their online quote system from their website. As always I'm available to answer any questions for you too.

EXTRA COPY OF FOUNTAIN CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

- Please cut and paste or print as need be.

- Feel free to share any of the copper art photos and helpful copper care info with anyone!

- Sculpture and Wall Art Information at bottom of page below fountain info.

<Please note: These aspects can also be very helpful with other types of fountain's whether they are Copper or Not.>

[Safety: Please read the Manufacturers Pump Information too. We carry and highly prefer their brand but they are a separate company.]

FOUNTAIN START-UP:

It's as easy as filling up and plugging in. (If your fountain does not start at all, please see below at #10 for Pump Priming/Trouble shooting.)

WATER and WATER TYPES:

1) If you are using only Distilled water in it, then you do not have to clean it out or empty it. Add water as needed. Distilled water is mineral free and very pure so there are no sediments left behind from evaporation that can build up in the water bowl.

With distilled water being used long term such as a year or two later, the flow of the water slowly wears down the gloss finish. If you see the finish coming off (which can be hard to discern sometimes as it blends with the water, then you'll want to empty it, rinse it and maybe slightly wipe it out it and start over again with new distilled water. Once that layer of finish where the water is (and flows) is gone, its not something you ever have to do again. The finish is also replaced with the most beautiful patina possible.

2) If not using distilled water, bottled drinking water, {or reverse osmosis water} is a great choice too and a little less in cost to buy. However it is not as pure as distilled, but is a very good alternative to distilled water, and can achieve similar results while also being less in maintenance. I highly recommend getting "Protec Fountain Scale and Stain Remover" [Amazon.com is a good place to find it] and adding it to the water monthly in one very small dose as is directed by the Protec Solution. Then after using "Protec" for about "2-3 months" rinse out your fountain under a sink or other spot and start over.

<Protec is an animal friendly product. Whatever treatment you decide to use for your fountain (if pets are a relevant concern) please read the labels and make sure the product is "animal friendly" and/or safe for pets, so they are not hurt by any undesired chemicals.>

<The "2-3 month" time frame of rinsing it out is optional and a good guideline to follow, but depending on where you set your fountain and how often its run (along with other varying things, such as water type used) you can rinse and add water as you feel is necessary. (At the least keep your pump under water, and do not let it run dry as this can burn out your pump motor!) The estimate of "rinsing time" and chosen "water type" will not hurt your fountain but can decrease or increase the running/operating costs of it.>

3) With regular tap water use, the same method as described above in R.O. Water/Bottled Drinking Water can be used, but you may need to rinse it more often. Water quality can vary across the country. So while using Protec in tap can work very well, we recommend avoiding it entirely and not using tap water at all - if possible - and this will keep your fountain looking prettiest.

e.g. Tap water from in Arizona can turn your (any different fountain material - not just copper) white in one year. When it is dry and not running this mineral deposit becomes translucent and hard to notice. This builds slowly over time (depending on the frequency of use) and is based on individual taste, since this may not be an aesthetic concern or consideration for you, since they can still be attractive this way. However, I prefer them with out any mineral deposits, and I do not want anyone with a sudden surprise when one day it is very noticeably coated with lime, calcium and other minerals! (This is also true for any decorative water fountain no matter which material it is constructed of! Arizona tap water can be very tough!)

AlGAE and/or MICROBES, and in regard to other Creatures:

Algae is very rare, but if it ever develops use an algaecide to clear it up. "Fountec Algaecide and Clarifier" is great brand, and available online. Once the gloss metal finish has been removed by the natural flow of the water, the natural properties of copper will take over far more strongly, and then the possibility of algae or other microbes developing in your fountain will dramatically decrease - if it happens at all! Fish and plants will not survive long in a pure copper fountain, so don't add them to it!

Copper has very strong antimicrobial properties that deter (and can prevent) microorganism growth such as algae, which can turn other fountain materials scummy or cloudy. While it's far less likely with copper, it's a quick and relatively inexpensive fix. If the water gets cloudy you can add a little bit of a product called "Fountain Clear" to it, and it'll help keep the water more sparkly. Depending on the water volume in a fountain it only takes a very small quite minute amount to work, such as a couple drops per month or so. (Using as little as possible is not only the best thing to do but it will also let you get the most for your purchase from this product).

This and other similar products may be available on Etsy too, but for immediate convenience and info I add this link for specifics:

www.amazon.com/McGrayel-Protec-60064-Preventative-Remover/dp/B000P6B22O

Also, this stuff comes in smaller 8 ounce bottles too.

The company says it's animal and bird safe and it is, and I think it's great stuff, however and it's very important to know that a little tiny amount can go a very long way, so please do beware cause Fountec or Protec in heavy doses, (like most things including table salt) can be toxic for any animal to ingest, so keep it to a very minimal amount so it's properly diluted in the water becoming safe to use. I'm not recommending it for animals to drink from, but if following the companies directions well and slowly gauging what tiny amounts you may need for your particular fountain it can work very well and still be bird and critter safe. Basically I would start with a tiny drop (if your fountain a large table size) and see how it goes in a couple days and then add more tiny amounts as needed to clear it up.

Pets and Drinking from Fountain Water:

In all my years of working with copper and copper water features, never have I encountered a situation where someone's pet (including my own) was harmed by drinking from a fountain. However, that does not mean it could not happen, so the best suggestion is not to allow it if at all possible. (Buying a running water pet drinking bowl can be a good deterrent, if your pet is very interested in drinking from flowing fountain water.)

<Please use this information below as a marker for your discretion with your pets/animals.>

Upon receiving the fountain new, there is a thin layer of acrylic (water based but still composed of chemicals that are not good if ingested) gloss metal finish on your fountain which will slowly wear away from the all-powerful constant flow of the water - then the patina will begin to evolve, yet be mainly isolated to where the water rests and flows and evaporates up from, but at the point of "patina growth" (which varies drastically depending on water type used and/or amount of time you run it - along with other factors) it can not hurt to rinse out your fountain if your kitty or dog (or other mammal) is determined to drink from it, and take a soft cotton cloth/rag and wipe away what you can, and then refill with water and start again. How often you need to do this depends on the other "time of use" aspects mentioned earlier in regard to "use and water type", but perhaps every 2-3 months... Our best recommendation is to not let pets drink from it at all: especially when the patina develops in a thicker layer! But, stopping determined thirsty pets is a hard thing to do! However, take solace in the fact that copper is a very clean metal: in all home (or business) places water is delivered into the building primarily through copper pipes (done for reason's involving anti-rust aspects as much as antimicrobial reasons) and so, exposure to copper, (which is healthy in correct ratios, just like iron) is not a harmful factor in healthy animal biology.

<I love animals! (See attached picture of one of my Cats.) And so, my informative effort in regard to animals is intended to help you choose what is best for you and your particular situation. I do not want anyone's pet being adversely affected.>

GLOSS METAL FINISH:

As the acrylic gloss finish degrades (this can take approx. 1-2 years and greatly varies on use placement/season when indoor or outdoor, and chosen water type) empty the bowl, and wipe out finish with a soft cotton cloth, rinse out and start the fountain again. (This finish removal process is gradual/variable but when completed, it is not needed to do again: the finish is replaced with patina.)

FOUNTAIN PUMPS:

4) These pump's are made to operate only when fully submerged. The pump placement (as a standard in all fountains we make) is designed so the pump can be fully submerged, with the pump's water intake at the lowest point possible in the bottom of the bowl, to allow it to function for the longest duration possible before water has to be added.

Do not let the pump operate if it is dry! (See #10 for more info.) This can hurt or break your pump motor. You can monitor your fountain water level by sight, sound (the louder it gets the lower the water is overall) and/or by touch with your hand. This varies greatly depending on where it's placed, season of the year, and how often it is run. On average about 16 ounces per week indoors can be lost per six (6) hour running period, but again, that can vary by great degrees so please monitor it and you'll determine what is best for you and your fountain.

Most fountain pumps in general do not have "on/off" switches but those pump types can be readily found elsewhere and adapted to these. The included pumps with the fountain's do not have "on/off" switches on them. The cord plug itself is the "on/off" switch. I do not carry them yet...
Alternative suggestions are: finding a pump with a built-in power switch online or in a retail store; extension cords can be bought with switches on the cords and adapted to the pumps; power strips can be used for plugging the fountain into; some electric outlets are internally connected to light switches on walls and if convenient can be used; timers for electric outlets can be used as well to synchronize a desired time of fountain use, which will automatically turn on and off for the duration set. (Repeated in Adjustments).

To replace a pump unplug fountain pump, and wiggle off the hose and pump. Insert new one the same way, sizing hoses as needed with clear vinyl hose or tubing. Pumps can last years but vary on how they are used. They are the only part of my fountain's that is manufactured by machine, and while they are great pumps, occasionally one may not last as long as the others or be imperfect as a result of mass production. Any brand with a similar GPH (Gallon per Hour Rate of Flow) will operate the pump.

<Using the same brand is highly recommended though - they are great pumps! Keeping your old pump makes it easiest to replace it with a new one because the hose sizes and pump inlet will readily match the new pump from the old pump.>

ADJUSTING WATER FLOW:

5) <Again: Before ever shipping each fountain is individually tested in all regards, (i.e. leaks, function in sound and appearance) and each aspect is maximized for efficiency resulting in very little loss of water from the fountain.>

In the case where tiny water drops escape from the bowl (they usually evaporate before noticed) avoid placing on porous surfaces or use a mat over surface to guard against it.

Similarly, though the drops are tiny and variably infrequent, it's also recommend to avoid having your fountain near electronic devices where the water can potentially damage any sensitive equipment.

Adjusting Water Flow: can be done safely while the fountain is running, but please use caution: The pump valve will control water flow making it quieter or softer in water flow and reduce very tiny drops. Directing the lowest cup upward (so it rests on a more even plane) will greatly reduce the possibility of many tiny drops getting outside of the bowl area - however the downside is the fountain can lose some of it's pretty sound. Adjusting the lowest cup can be accomplished by holding firmly (and safely) with thumb on top and fingers underneath, at the braze/solder point where the wire connects to the "water leaf cup", and then tilt up or down as is your preference per sound and flow.

-Idea/suggestions for this are decorative kitchen/bath mats (clear ones can allow the surface aesthetics to still show through) and/or some automotive mats (which are non-stick for preventing slipping near oils or other liquids with very low or high viscosity) work well on larger pieces for floor areas.

7) Pump Cover: Included with your fountain is a decorative copper pump cover. It has only aesthetic value. It is a separate piece from the fountain. It can be jostled during shipping. It sits in a "U" shape over the pump with the concave side down over and surrounding the pump. (Please see example below or other pictures on the site for further examples.)

8) There is no on/off switch on the pump models we include, so the plug is the "on/off switch".
<Ideas/suggestions: Purchase a wall "plug-in" electric outlet timer or an extension cord with a hand switch built into it for "on" and "off", or use a wall switch connected to an electrical outlet (like a light switch but to a plug) or a small power strip to put the pump's electric plug into and the strips power switch can substitute as an on/off switch.

START-UP FROM AN EMPTY FOUNTAIN:

9) Store dry indoors or outdoors. Adding a cover to it can prevent dust or other debri from accumulating. Copper absorbs heat, so if it's stored in a high heat place or condition, covering it also helps keep your pump safe -not the copper which takes almost 1900 degrees to melt but can be annealed or altered in structure at lower temperatures around and near to 1500f degrees; inversely it takes about negative -300f before copper is fractured at the molecular level (figures approx.) but the plastic of the pump has a much lower threshold; if you live here in Phoenix, Az. or other similar climates this is important.

Conversely, if your area is one prone to extreme freezing conditions, it would be best to not leave your fountain out in an area where the water can freeze to thick layers and conditions with-in the fountain bowl and reservoir, because as the water expands, with the copper being relatively thin sheet metal and the pump plastic polymers, the frozen water can bend and or damage the copper by misshaping it and do the same thing to the pump potentially causing it damage. This would also take an extreme condition to produce these effects but you know your area and climate best and so can play this by ear so to speak and store your fountain accordingly... but just in case I hope it helps to have mentioned for people!

10) Initial Start-up/Prime the Pump/Vacation Mode (i.e. or after not using the fountain for some time) and when starting up from a dry bowl: if the water does not flow in a timely manner, you may have to "Prime the Pump" and here is some preliminary information on Priming followed by the steps for it:

Pump Priming Purpose:
<Priming relieves pressure so it can run normally; i.e. even though the pump is "on" electrically, it does not have enough energy do to inner air pressure from the outer water surrounding the pump to force the impeller to rotate and pull the water upward. When it was plugged in if you could hear or feel the vibration of the motor but no water is coming out the spout, then that is a good sign of it needing to be primed. >

Adjustable Flow Valve/Gate:
There is a switch on the side of the pump where a plastic screen is located, which is also where the pump's water intake is, and it has a plus and minus sign to adjust the water flow. It has a little sluice gate behind that switch, and for the small size fountain it should be all the way open to the plus side. While unlikely it could have been jostled during transit, so you may want to peek before priming because if it is set to low it makes priming harder. You can adjust later if you want though I recommend keeping it on high speed for optimum flow and sound.

Copper Pump Cover:
The copper pump cover is a separate part and bent in a U-shape around the pump housing. It can be slightly bent/pulled apart and then pulled off of the pump.

These steps will prime it:

A) Unplug fountain. Pull/wiggle the entire pump and pump hose Outlet in unison off of the copper water Inlet pipe.

B) Then leave the pump disconnected in the bowl and leave it fully submerged. Plug it back in. After some moments air bubbles should be expelled from the pump, and replaced by the steady clear flow of the water.

C) Unplug the fountain. Now take the clear hose (while keeping the pump housing fully submerged or it won't work) and put it back over copper water Inlet pipe. (There is a screen area where the water intake is which is denoted by diagonal lines over horizontal lines and this area has to stay submerged while hooking it back up to the fountain).

Once the clear hose is back over the copper pipe inlet on the fountain you can plug it back in and the water should run pretty quickly, though it may be slow at first but in about ten seconds or so it should be operating. If so, you're done priming it and can put the copper decorative pump cover back in place and use your fountain as normal.

If "Pump Priming" Does Not Work, try this:

A) The impeller inside the fountain may be stuck in place; there are multiple reasons for that, debri, dust, ect... Make sure the pump is UNPLUGGED and then take it out. Now, check to see if any debris is blocking or obstructing the intake Screen Filter and remove if need be - which can be done by hand wiping the dust or other stuff off of it. Remove the Screen Filter (which is a rectangular shape with intersecting diagonal lines) over the water flow Sluice (or gate) that controls water intake into the pump.

<Remember: Safety first! Unplug it! See the Pump Diagram/Information Paper located in the pump box, which came with your fountain. (***If by chance you did not see it, or did not have one included, please see the bottom of this page for a picture and copy of it.)
1. Take off the Back Cover/Screen.
2. Next pull out the Seating Cover - the Regulator/Flow Gate can be left in place while taking off the Back Cover.
3. Now, use tweezers, or another small type of hand tool like Pliers and pull out the Impeller (fan-like) apparatus. Please note it is magnetized!
4. Take the remaining part of the fountain pump (the housing section where the cord still connects to it) and where the Impeller was, rinse this area out in a sink, allowing the water to flow and flush out any debris that may have been stuck in the fountain housing out of it into a sink or bowl.
5. Put the pump back together, and trying using again normally. <Please note this does not always work but is worth trying!>

B) Get a bowl of water deep enough for the pump to operate inside of, and put the pump fully submerged inside of it and turn it on. If the water flows out of the Outlet and Clear Hose, you have solved the problem and can restore the pump to your fountain. (Now you'll want to use the Pump Priming Method -written above - to make sure it starts up correctly.)

<As long as your fountain pump stays submerged, (operating or not / on or off) it is very unlikely you will run into these issues again; but this way you'll know how to fix it just in case.>

PUMP SIZES, WATER VOLUME CAPACITIES, and Pump Replacements:

Small Fntn. 40 GPH/50oz., Medium Fntn. 70 GPH./80oz., Lg. Table/Floor Fntn. 90-150 GPH Range, 1-2 Gallon Water Vol.

I highly recommend this brand and use them on most of my fountains. Staying with them is also the easiest way to change out your pump:

www.fountainmountain.com/fountain-pond-pumps

Use the Pump Size and it's GPH to determine the new size you need.

(However any other fountain pump brand with the same GPH/Gallon Per Hour Flow Rate will also operate your fountain in a similar way)

FOUNTAIN PUMPS AND FOUNTAIN PUMP ELECTRIC CORD INFO:

On/Off Switches:

Most fountain pumps do not come with an on and off switch and the plug then becomes it by default. Please read above in the Fountain Care section for details and ideas for alternatives for making the On/Off switch easier to use.

Please note DRIP LOOP for Safety and Protection against mishaps: REMEMBER: SAFETY!
<Most Pump Manufacturer's Information Brochure shows how to set-up a drip loop. If it doesn't look online or find another resource for seeing an example of a Drip Loop. With their Drip Loop (An Industry Wide Standard for all Submersible Pumps) and standard GFCI electric plug outlets, and the "built-in" one on my fountains, it puts the product in very good shape to prevent any unwanted mishap>

Built-in safety feature:

I only have the pump's electric cord set above the fountain's water line on each and every fountain I have ever made. This is known as a "drip loop" which initially prevents water from running down the electric cord and into an electric wall outlet. All electric devices complex or simple for sustained use near water and/or outdoors advise using a Drip Loop, and these are no different. Water entering an outlet can cause a lot various problems and so is best negated by using a Drip Loop.

Placement:

However, please use caution anyway where ever you may put it, because a fountain bowl can spill over, just like any other water bowl and cause problems!

***Since copper is an equally great metal and medium for Indoor and Outdoor use, all of the copper fountains are also equally good for indoor and outdoor use too, however: only Indoor Fountain Pumps are Included (at no retail mark-up in cost) with the Small and Medium Table Fountain Sizes. This makes their overall price more affordable for customers.

< Copper Phoenix Art/myself, does not currently carry Outdoor Pumps except for the Large Table, Large Scale, and Waterfall Sized Fountains and these are only available as included with your fountain and not for separate retail. >

SCULPTURE, WALL ART, and other COPPER ART:

Sculpture or other copper art decor that is NOT a fountain, only needs (if anything at all) occasional dusting if inside or under a covered area outside. A soft dry or damp cloth or other chemical free duster (such as a "feather duster") is all that is needed.

If copper sculpture is outdoors but not under a covered area, dusting will help, but depending on your climate, if it is extremely moist or with high precipitation, after some years, (which varies considerably, perhaps 2-10 years) your art may begin to lose the protective gloss metal finish coat, and then start to naturally oxidize or develop patina. If this is not desired, and you see the finish deteriorating in any way, you can reseal the art with spray-on metal finish, or a brush-on metal finish, in either flat or semi-gloss or full gloss mixtures, and this will help further protect the orange-like copper tones.

PRODUCT SAFETY USE RECCOMENDATIONS and INFORMATION on COPPER FOUNTAINS and ART and PUMP PRODUCTS FROM OTHER MANUFACTURORS (and in relation to using with my Products).

[PLEASE NOTE: THIS DOES NOT CONSTITUTE NOR IS IT A SUBSTITUTE FOR LICENSED PROFESSIONAL ADVICE. I am an Artist yet nevertheless I care and intend this to be helpful in general to anyone.

IF YOU SEEK FURTHER INFORMATION AND/OR CLARITY ON THESE TOPICS, PLEASE CONSULT A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL IN WHATEVER FIELD MAY APPLY To YOUR QUESTION/ISSUE SEPARATELY FROM MYSELF FOR ASSISTANCE.]

Circuit breakers already add a layer of safety indoor and outdoors, and while all outside/outdoor electric outlets are bound in the U.S. to be GFCI/GFI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters/Ground Fault Interrupter) outlets making plugging in and using any electric appliance (even two wire hot and neutral cords that lack a dedicated ground wire) very safe indoor or outdoors, they are not full-proof, but drastically mitigate electrical problems, thus their inclusion everywhere outside and inside water areas, such as kitchen's and baths, ect. However, using an Indoor Only Pump outside is not recommended. Please use caution and prudence when using any electrical device, appliance, and/or tool and always first consult the manufacturer's information.

Checking and testing and maintaining your home or business GFCI outlets is a good rule to follow in general for using and operating any electric appliance or tool, regardless of indoor or outdoor cord type. Like any piece of hardware/material/parts these Plug Outlets can degrade over long periods of time and need attention. Consult an electrician or builder for more information specific in this capacity to your own needs or interests.

Finding a pump for outdoor use is recommended on the Small and Medium Table Sizes. An equivalent fountain GPH rate of water flow is best to achieve a similar water flow result in your fountain. A good brand on the small size table fountains is (use term below for internet searching) Beckett 40 GPH Outdoor Fountain Pump. As a substitute, Solar Pumps can work well too. These are most easily found online via various retailers.

POLICIES FOR OWNING and USING MY PRODUCTS:

I am sorry to say this, since this language is no fun but necessary: I do not assume any liability for any accident incurred with my products. I do not warranty fountains or offer protection against them getting damaged by/and/or any accidents along with not having responsibility for anyone hurting themselves or others, (including animals) with them. Buyer please beware as when purchased you assume any and all responsibility for such things.
HOWEVER, it is relatively thin but very safely expertly crafted metal, and as with ANY such thing anywhere, please handle them - or it - with care and caution regardless! (Plus they'll look great and last longer!!!)
This information is mostly intended to be of help to you in regard to safety and/or pump replacement and considering a purchase too.

- Though I do not warranty pumps for any period of time, I do include them at cost with no mark-up to all my customers. However, if possible and applicable I reserve the option to replace a pump if needed if it is found to be defective upon receiving it with your fountain. Please notify me about it at least 14 days after your purchase to make sure other pump trouble shooting has been considered and attempting before requesting a new pump to help mitigate the <time/cost> of replacing pumps that do not need to be replaced.

- All pump's are tested on each fountain in advance of being included with the fountain to help initially ensure they are in good operating shape before including and sending them with your item.

(Please read the pump manufacturer's included pump information. They label each pump too. I highly prefer their brand but they are a separate company with separate policies.)

Frequently asked questions
Where can I find new fountain pump's?

www.fountainmountain.com

They retail direct from their site -- at great prices -- just check your old pump and/or pump box to get the correct model replacement and Gallons per Hour, or for quick reference on table fountain's water pumps needs: Small 40 gph, Medium 70gph, and large 130-150 gph. You can also see this info and more on thecopperfountain.com on the page for fountain instruction's and copper care information. This is also available here on etsy at the end of the Policies section.

Is pick-up of art available instead of shipping?

I'm sorry but no it is not. I am an "online only" art venue, which is direct from myself (the artist) and am not open to the public for picking up art, or for my being able to meet anywhere for pick-up. I appreciate your understanding and thank you for visiting the site and/or making a purchase.

Custom Work and Orders

Each order is equally important to me, and custom work at this point in my art career, be it small or large in dimensions, requires an abundance of time (and/or cost to do) and often I do not have the appropriate time and budget needed for such things, so, after careful consideration, I have decided to restructure it into a more manageable form. Thank you for considering me as a potential source for bringing your idea to life, and if I cannot be of help to you with your project, I nevertheless hope you find an alternative and sincerely wish you and yours the best with it.

Care instructions

Copper fountain and art care instruction's are available here on Etsy at the Policy section's end and on my main website:

thecopperfountain.com

It is very comprehensive and may be of help even with fountains that are not made from copper. I'm also, when I have time, adding a brief FAQ concisely summarizing the information. An Care Instruction Paper comes with every fountain (or copper item) as a short version with a link to thecopperfountain.com's page for copper care instructions.
Copper is a near timeless metal, and when given a bit of care, (especially in advance of getting copper art) it can last for many decades and often much more, so it's detailed to be of the most help to you.

Does algae grow in the fountains?

It can but rarely does. If this happens you can safely add an algaecide to the water to deter it. Various products are available online and at hardware/home improvement stores.

Copper is a superior choice from my view, because copper has intrinsic properties that kill microbes while also yielding extremely great benefits in regard to economy and longevity, making it a superior material for fountains. A lot of other nice fountains made of different materials, (i.e. stone, concrete, ceramic, porcelain, fiberglass, stainless steel, ect.) mostly lack the natural ability to deter microbes, and can either break or rust. I've seen copper fountains 30+ years old still running/functioning and looking great!
