Soy una mujer de casi 50 años y estoy probando algo nuevo. Soy madre, maestra, esposa, amiga y aspirante a carpintera. De pequeña, siempre hacía proyectos en el taller con mi padre y disfrutaba cada minuto. Falleció hace unos años y ha sido muy duro sin él. Antes de morir, nos ayudó a construir un granero en nuestra casa que siempre imaginamos que algún día sería una especie de taller, más para mi marido que para mí. Pero últimamente, he empezado a pasar tiempo usando nuestras herramientas, las de mi padre, y creando cosas que me encantan. Ha sido divertido, terapéutico, liberador, empoderador y revelador. He descubierto nuevos talentos, he sentido entusiasmo y vitalidad, y he aprendido muchísimo en el camino (¡y aún me queda muchísimo por aprender!).
I'm a nearly 50 year old woman and I'm trying something new. I'm a mom, a teacher, a wife, friend, and wannabe woodworker. I always did projects out in the shop with my dad growing up and loved every minute of it. He passed away a few years ago and it's been really hard without him. Before he passed, he helped us build a barn at our house that we always envisioned would one day be a workshop of sorts, more for my husband than me really. But recently, I have taken to spending time using our tools, my dad's tools, and creating things I love. It's been fun, healing, freeing, empowering, and eye opening. I have found new talents, felt excitement and zest for life, and learned so so much along the way (with a loooooong way to go!)
