About

My addiction to making vintage-modern lampshades is jealous of my love affair with the atmosphere.

When I couldn't stop thinking about the weather and watching The Weather Channel growing up, my parents wanted to plan an intervention. When I finally brought a group of fellow meteorology students home with me from Cornell and we watched TWC en masse, they had an "ah-ha" moment and realized their daughter wasn't alone. For years I forecasted the weather in television markets around the eastern half of the country. One of those jobs brought me to Boston where I discovered the Brimfield Antiques show and my love for vintage things - especially textiles. Around that time, I taught myself to sew, and that passion transferred to handmade sewn soft-back lampshades.

I ended up in Washington DC, got married and within a few years started a family. My children, Maximus and Eden, are my world. I am now a full time mommy and love every second. I squeeze in time for lampshade design usually after their little heads hit the pillow. I have found that the creativity I had in forecasting the weather is now being channeled into my handmade shades. I pour my heart into my work and I hope you enjoy looking at my one-of-a-kind designs.

Additional policies and FAQs
About my lampshade pricing... I make both hard backed shades and soft backed shades. The soft back shades (the curvier, more victorian-style ones) are all hand sewn. This means both the lining is hand sewn in as well as the main fabrics and trims. This means that the hand sewn soft backed shades take many many more hours to create and are therefore priced accordingly.

If you see a shade you like and need two, just ask me. Many times I have more yardage of the original fabric and can make a mate.

Need a different size? Just convo me and I can work that out for you, too, in most cases.

Please ask me all questions before you consider making a purchase. I am happy to help!
