Because of data privacy issues (for a student I teach), I can't provide a picture of the necklace Jodi created; however, I am very pleased with the end result. She was very gracious in working with me to create a custom product for a father who lost his infant son. I highly recommend Whimsical Heartstrings!! -- Dr. Chris A. Buzzetta

I bought the sterling silver pick engraved with a date and a cross for my son's confirmation. I am excited to give it to him! It is just as described. I love the added touch of his initial on the case. Jodi provided wonderful customer service. Thank you!

About

A Day in the Life of Whimsical Heartstrings...

Once upon a time there was a woman who left her career as a Web Designer and Intranet Specialist to be a full time Mom. One day, this stay at home mom wanted a necklace, personalized with her children's names. And so began Whimsical Heartstrings.

The simple beginning of wanting a necklace has lead to a full time career. I thrive on variety, becoming easily bored with one mundane task. Working in my studio involves so many levels of variety, it's wonderful.

I usually begin the day by opening the curtains in my studios and letting the sun shine in after dropping my kids off at school. First I head to the computer to check on things - messages from customers, sales, web updates etc.

Next, it's time roll up my sleeves and start creating. I will typically stamp all the orders for the day first and then move to my next work bench where much of the filing, sanding, shaping oxidizing and polishing takes places. Once the pieces are complete, its on to the next station where I put together the necklaces, bracelets, key chains, etc. and package them.

Lastly, I head to my computer desk and touch base with the customers whose packages are shipping, sending out completion info and tracking number.

That's a quick summary of how it all works. There also needs to be time built in for photographing new pieces, ordering supplies, organizing the studio, maintaining Whimsical Heartstrings online, social media....and the list goes on.

I find it all very enjoyable, but the best part is hearing from my customers once they have received their custom order! It really does touch my heart to hear the stories behind the orders, what the significance is, etc. Often times my customers keep in touch me, circling back for a new order for the next significant event in their lives.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I enter my custom information for you to stamp?

When you are placing your order, you will see a box that says "Message to Whimsical Heartstrings". Please enter all the details in that box. Be sure to proof read what you have typed, as this is what I will use to stamp your item.

If you have questions, please contact me.

How long does it take to make my item? What is the current production time?

When you place your order, I add it to my production schedule in the order in which it was received. You may be number 20 on the schedule, or you may be number 120.

CURRENT PRODUCTION TIME currently is about 2 weeks. This is the time needed to get your order to the top of the schedule and created. Once complete, it will ship via the method you selected when purchasing.

Can you design a special piece for me?

Yes. Custom orders are my specialty. Contact me via Convos in Etsy and we can discuss what you're thinking about and how I can best make your vision become a reality.

I need my item in a hurry. Can I pay a fee to speed up production?

Need an item rush produced? To rush an item, I need to add extra studio time to my day to create your piece. Please send me a message to see if I can work the extra time into my schedule at this point in time. I try to accommodate these special cases whenever possible. There is an additional free for rush production of items.

I had another child. Can you add on to a necklace I purchased previously?

Let's figure out together the best way to add on to your necklace. Sometimes it just needs an added disc, sometimes a new layer, sometimes a slight redesign. Contact me and we can decide what is best in your particular case.

How do I care for my jewelry?

It depends on what you have purchased, but for sterling silver, copper and Nugold items here are a few tips:

I recommend you clean your items regularly with a polishing cloth. This will clean off natural body oils and dirt which can cause dulling of the metal and oxidization.

Do not wear your jewelry in chlorine.

Do NOT soak in liquid jewelry cleaner as it will remove the antiquing in the letters.

Do not wear jewelry in the shower, while doing dishes or cleaning with chemicals.

Where is my package? It is marked "Delivered" and I don't have it.

If your package was marked as delivered, but it is not in your possession, please check with all members of your household and with your neighbors. Delivery mistakes can be made and putting it in the wrong mailbox is the most common mistake.

Still can't find it? You will need to contact you local carrier and/or post office. Ask for the GPS coordinates of exactly where the items was delivered. This will let you know if the were at your front door when it was scanned delivered or if they were half way across town.

The best tracking can be done on your end, by you, for items marked as delivered.

Once a package leaves my studio and is scanned in by the post office, I literally have no control over where it is or the route it's traveling.

What is Hand Stamping?

With hand stamped pieces, each letter is created by using individual steel alphabet stamps and a hammer, pounding one letter, one design at a time.

Letters will not always line up perfectly and the depth of each imprint will slightly vary which is a characteristic of hand stamped items, allowing for each item to be unique. This is not to be considered a defect and adds to the charm of each piece. Hand stamped pieces have that beautiful handmade feel and look to them.

Hand stamping is NOT engraving. Engraving is mechanical and done by a machine/computer. While engraving can be nice, it does not have a handmade look to it.

Custom and personalized orders
