Whimsy Sage ~ Tammie and Martin Mabe, Hand Crafted in Canyon Lake Texas
Hello, I am Tammie Mabe and together with my husband Martin we are Whimsy Sage. We have been making glass beads and furniture since 2003.
I came to glass bead making from a background in jewelry making. I fell in love with hand made glass beads, and then the process of melting glass in the flame to make tiny little works of art in a drop of glass. It gives me great joy.
Martin has been in love with antique furniture for years. He loves to take it apart and repair and restore it. One day he decided to make his own with the same old timey joinery and attention to detail.. He does most of his natural finishes but he lets me do the painted ones.
We started out in Mathews Virginia then Hurricane Isabel made us want to run for the hills "literally". We spent some years in the Blue Ridge Mountains on a Mini Farm and have many fond memories of our time there.
Our grand babies are in Austin, so we moved to Canyon Lake Texas to be close by. I have a small glass studio, and Martin has a small wood shop here where everything happens these days.
Whimsy Sage has a shop at Wimberley Market Days #227 in Wimberley Texas where we sell in person once a month as well as selling on the internet. We also do occasional other local shows.
We hope you will enjoy our shop, and appreciate your interest in our work very much.
