About

WhiteNoiseMaker handmade slippers and gloves

WhiteNoiseMaker came about by chance. Pregnant with my daughter, I decided to do what many women enjoy doing during this wonderful time: knit tiny clothes. Knitting led me to crocheting, and before I knew it, I was making my own patterns. My daughter arrived and between the tornado of feeding and changing diapers, I decided, in a somewhat sleep-deprived haze, to open an Etsy shop. I'm so glad I did.

The last three years have flown by. My daughter is now 3, chatting non-stop and modelling WhiteNoiseMaker prototype slippers for my fiancée and I to evaluate. Watching my daughter grow with my shop has been a wonderful experience, but there are many other wonderful things about my little store on Etsy. As a stay-home mother, I have really enjoyed the freedom my shop has given me: I love the work, spending precious time with my daughter and developing new slippers - and nothing fascinates me more than watching how my new designs are received by my followers, old and new. I also love watching my little packages leave the shores of New Zealand for the farthest reaches of the world, from the big cities of Seoul and New York to the little villages of Norway and Argentina. Knowing that my slippers comfort the feet of so many different people makes me feel connected to the world in a way that other jobs never have.

I am passionate about my hand-made things. I love the simple combination of yarns, crochet hooks and my two hands. It is my hope that the happiness this little world has brought me will find its way into your life also; through the post and to your doorstep, in the form of two slippers, or whatever unique design catches your eye.
