About

Necklaces & jewelry handmade in Ohio by "Whoa Bettie"

Whoa Bettie specializes in keepsake jewelry that is handmade in Ohio featuring genuine pearls, vintage findings, crystals, glass, and semiprecious stones. These pieces are extra special because the genuine pearls and semiprecious stones I use feature natural variations, so stone details may vary slightly making every piece a unique keepsake. These pieces will add extra sparkle to your special day and remain an eye catching addition to your wardrobe for years afterward. If you are a bride, you'll find a timeless piece that will be worn well beyond your wedding day as well as beautiful gifts wrapped with a personalized sentiment for your special guests, moms or bridesmaids.

I'm Bridget Tharp, the creator of Whoa Bettie, and I've been making jewelry as a hobby since grade school when I first started selling friendship bracelets and seed bead necklaces on my school bus in the Cleveland suburbs. I kept on making jewelry as a college student in Bowling Green, and I still create jewelry from my Columbus home.

Lately, I'm most inspired by my grandmother Betty's favorite costume jewelry from her 1950s and 1960s jewelry box. I aspire to create pieces that will have the same timeless style and wearability. Every time I wear something sparkly from her collection, I have a story to tell. I want the jewelry I create to be something that will have a story for you, too.

If no gift message is chosen, the Whoa Bettie logo will appear inside the gift box.

Gift message options: Is this a gift for a special occasion or for your bridal party?

I'd love to add free custom gift wrapping to your order! Colors include pink peony, berry succulents, blue beach feather. (Pictured.)

Include in the note to seller the color, message type and # of each message card you need for your order, i.e.: "Pink, Bridesmaid, 7 cards." Add names, too, if you like.

Care instructions

Whoa Bettie uses naturally fragile materials like genuine pearls, vintage findings, crystals, and semiprecious stones. Please handle with care.

Pearls, semiprecious stones and leather should be polished gently with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use cleaners or chemicals, which may cause the pearls to lose their luster or to crack. The natural oils in your skin will condition pearls, leather and most stones, so regular wear means maintenance-free care.

Vintage elements can be polished with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol or jewelry cleaner.

Glass crystals may be cleaned gently with a soft cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol or jewelry cleaner.

Chain on your necklace can be brightened with a polishing cloth or rubbing alcohol.
