It's now time for ME time

Hi, I don't want to scare you off with my ugly mug shot 50 years +, but I'm still very young at heart for sure. I shall try to find some interesting photo to put here soon!
I have chosen to put my home town of Swansea in Wales UK

With 2 lovely girls now grown I can now devote my time to doing what I love doing; making and creating using fabulous colourful quality fabrics.

My very 1st job was for a Singer sewing machine fabric shop selling fabrics and sewing patterns,
and I still have that 1st weekly wage pay slip with the princely sum of £18 ( $28.00) wow!

I loved it in Singer's but there was no room for promotion so I moved from my home on the coast in Wales to the big busy City life in London UK and went straight into retail in Oxford Street (Bourne and Hollingsworth) a big old fashioned store.

I have a City and Guilds in Pattern Cutting and Designing, but was unsuccessful with a job application at age 16 to be a pattern cutter for Marks & Spencer - hey ho their loss!

Besides many jobs I have tried, or then later to fit in with family life- I was........wait for it

A freelance photographer in an arabic nightclub (and 4 other venues)

A barmaid in the same nightclub, and worked a few bars and clubs too (one I had to wear fishnets and a bathing suit-oh those were the days I had a figure lol!)

A Silver Service waitress in a few 4 star hotels in London, and also Merchant Banks, Football grounds, Banqueting, and for the Royal Artillery

I had a sandwich business which I would pedal on a bicycle to a Business estate and sell my 50p (80c) sandwiches, of which there were many days myself and my flatmates would eat the excess for dinner! eww!

This Business estate is where I would collect my Outwork of sewing from Couture designer Zandra Rhodes and I would sew on thousands of beads on the hems of her chiffon creations that retailed at 1,000's of pounds (I worked on part of a Grace Jones dress)

I have been a Tailor (Army) and a Laundress for the Officers Mess, and also did a stint in the Territorial Army in my youth.

Came into contact with a few celebrities in my various jobs
The Queen, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Jeffery Archer, Bruce Forsyth, Muhamid Ali and Jo Frazier, Janet Street Porter, Zandra Rhodes.......to name drop a few lol!

But in all this varied life I have been blessed with I've always had a hand in sewing in some shape of form to pay the bills and make do and mend.
Now I have the choice to devote my time to satisfying myself and my buyers with the best I can be; and I love doing it..........

Lovely to see you here at Wicked Walls, I'm Linda
