Whimsical porcelain animals that have brought smiles to collectors for over 50 years!
Wild Earth originated with my mom Lila Stuart who began making her cute ceramic animals in 1950 in Pasadena, Ca. known as “Lila’s Originals”. These were sold in shops along the West Coast.
In the 70’s after having a family, Lila began to use texture in the clay along with iron oxide stains minimizing the glaze for a more earthy look. By the time I was 19 I was making ceramics along with her at her Wild Earth shop in Santa Cruz, Ca. We started doing art shows in Ca and Az and selling to shops.
In 2003 my mom Lila left Wild Earth to me and I’ve continued to carry on these special creatures as long as I am able to.
I’m happy to be able to offer Wild Earth Sculpture here at Etsy.com!
If you don't see what you want in the store, please ask as I may have it or can make it for you.
Custom orders can be made particularly in off season.
If you purchase multiple items the shipping costs may seem high, and you may be getting a partial shipping refund, so don’t be discouraged if this happens.
I ship immediately if at all possible! Your package should arrive quickly!
There are more items available, especially larger pieces, which it’s preferable that they be picked up or delivered in the SF area.
I don’t have shows planned for 2022 at present. This is mainly to protect my husbands health.

REPAIRING WILD EARTH
Did you know? If your Wild Earth breaks, don't despair or dispose!
Save your pieces because Wild Earth breaks cleanly and can be easily repaired with Weldbond glue ( from Ace Hardware or online.) It's a clear drying white glue and easy to use, but waterproof and durable. (Small parts can be glued with super glue).
Usually the repair will not even show when pressed tightly together (put glasses on and wiggle until it “clicks” in and fits perfectly- rub your finger across break to make sure it’s fitting exactly), wipe off excess, hold or let set up for 5 minutes, and let cure for 24 hours.
For waterproof or weight bearing repairs stick with Weldbond which is good for everything. I'm happy to answer questions regarding this as even very large or "shattered" pieces can be treated as a puzzle, repaired gradually (a few pieces a day)and be restored.
If you have questions about filling in areas of missing pieces, convo me and I’ll share ideas! Folks get attached to their Wild Earth Sculpture and there is most often a way to repair them.

5 out of 5 starsThese are the cutest things ever. I am so glad I ordered several of them. They are very unique and very well made. They are lots of fun. I was going to gift 1 or 2 but I just couldn't. I had to keep them all for myself. Great price, quick shipping. I highly recommend.

I make whimsical stoneware ceramics that are highly textured, stained with iron oxide, glazed and high fired, so they do well indoors or outside!
I learned to make ceramics from my mother, Lila Stuart, who started making ceramics in 1950 and sold to shops along the west coast. She taught adult and children's classes, and I would help show the children how to put ceramics together when I was 8. At age 19 I decided the ceramics she made were special, and I needed to learn how to make them.
I attended Cabrillo College majoring in Art. I enjoyed pen & ink drawing, watercolor painting, Stone carving, and bronze casting.
I worked with Lila for 30 years making Wild Earth Sculpture. In 2003 when my mother died, she entrusted me with Wild Earth and I have been able to continue it on a smaller scale, doing art shows, selling to a few shops, and having some online sales.
I enjoy playing with color and developing new and modified creatures as well as occasionally returning to making a vintage piece. So many collectors in the US and around the world have enjoyed their pieces for multiple generations!
