About

Armor and Paint

This store started because of Glenn Beck.

No. I’m not kidding. Allow me to explain…

Back before WHP (as I affectionately call her) was even a glimmer in my eye, I was working for a longtime investor and entrepreneur. One day he came to me and said… “I taped Glenn Beck for you…you need to watch this. I think this would be very interesting to you”. So I grudgingly sit down to watch what I am sure is going to be something awful. Much to my surprise it was about a woman who owned a vintage Etsy shop. She had, in her treasure hunting, come across a coat with Glenn Beck’s father’s name sewn into the lapel. She merely wanted to return the jacket to him, assuming it would mean something to him. He ended up having her on the show to thank her, promote her shop and told the story about how the shop had saved her from foreclosure the year before after a nasty divorce. I was quite intrigued. It combined so many things I loved; thrifting, sales, photography, fashion and history. So I researched and crunched some numbers to see if it would be a viable business plan. I thought it just might work!

So I started small, a trip to goodwill and $100 worth of inventory. I had a sale within the first ten minutes…I was totally hooked. The shop has gone through a few ups and downs since it’s birth at the beginning of 2011. In that time I got a “big girl” job and allowed the store to coast along. Well…no more! I recently changed positions at my work and went to 2/3 time in order to focus on getting more beautiful things into the hands of women all around the world that love them.

Clothing is my armor and my paint. It’s the way I can project my feelings, protects me when I feel vulnerable, enhances my confidence and give me avenues to become people I never thought I could. That feeling, we all know it, of having the EXACT right thing on…there’s truly nothing like it. It’s not really about how you look, it’s how your inner parts react to what’s on your body. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to help other people feel that way.

One other thing I would like you, my potential customer, to make note of is that 10% of all profits made by this store go directly to help support Women At Risk International. It’s an incredible group that focuses on helping women and children all around the world who have been or are at risk of becoming victims of human trafficking. Check their website out to learn more about them. It’s a big crisis and something dear to my heart. I am so glad to be able to incorporate these two things.

So take off your shoes…take a look around. Dress for yourself!

Born in Switzerland and raised in Texas. Doesn't get much better than that. Vintage came crashing into my life when I was in high school and I found a love of treasure-hunting and needing clothes that fitted an hourglass shape.

Shop policies

This store is dedicated to the girl who uses her clothing as a means to live on the edge of reality and fantasy. For those of us to who sometimes feel lost in the cracks in the constantly-changing fashion world and who know deep down that we were never meant to be ordinary.

I really hope this shop speaks to women who love to stand out, have fun with their wardrobe and take risks once in a while! And remember my 2 F's whenever you shop for a vintage item...

#1. FIT! - get yourself professionally measured (bra stores, bridal shops and department stores are a great place to go) They won't charge you and it is imperative that the garment fits you in the right way and shows of YOUR best assets.

#2. FLAIR - is this piece unique? Will this get you those coveted "Oh i LOVE that!" remarks? Is this something I don't see very often?

Making sure your wardrobe meets these two things are your key to fashion success.

I can't wait to share my finds with you. Please don't hesitate to get in touch.

For DOMESTIC customers: I ship USPS, usually First Class, and sometimes Priority if the package weighs more than 14 oz and always with Order Confirmation.
