These are perhaps the softest wolf undercoat mitts I have purchased so far. And so very cute, too!

Not only were they soft and beautifully created, but the customer service was kind and went over and above! Thank you for creating such beautiful pieces and offering the money back to the wolf sanctuary!

This is a very impressive scarf with gray shed wolf fur, gray and white wools, and featuring snippets of colored wool throughout. It has a very natural appearance, and obviously took a great deal of work and skill from spinning the raw fibers, through the weaving process, to the finishing touches. I absolutely love it.

This is a unique hat spun and knitted from the shed fur of a pair of bonded wolf-dogs. Awesome work; I love it!

About

Who knew wolves were spinnable?

Wild and Wolfy started after a visit to the Wolf Sanctuary--www.wolfsanctuary.net. There, as a vet tech, I met several wolves and wolf hybrids, some of whom had been badly abused, and were now recuperating and living safely in sanctuary.

As a spinner and knitter, I was intrigued by their fur--so amazingly soft! Some of the wolves love to be brushed. I was given some, and decided to make a scarf, as a donation to the Sanctuary's fundraising dinner. It was a hit, and a partnership was born. I have done several scarves, and now 3 full 6 foot shawls for their fundraising dinners. Then I found out that they had tubs of fur stored, unsure what to do with it. Idea struck: open an Etsy shop, and help the Sanctuary, which has to, due to several natural disasters in recent years, find a new place to live, and continue the incredible work.

Wolf fur doesn't spin like sheep's wool, or goat, or camelid, or even dog. It takes an average of a week to get the fiber ready for spinning, with multiple washes, carding, picking out the "natural environment" that sticks to the fur--pine needles, pine cones, bits of bark, dinner, etc, then continue to the spinning.

Design comes next, because not every skein is soft enough to be next to the skin--although Sigmund is amazingly soft!

All finished items are washed yet again, sun dried, and stored in a smoke free home until you request one of the special items!

I live in far northern Colorado, and have loved the wolves at the Sanctuary since I first met them as a vet tech. I'm helping the Sanctuary find better, safer environs for their charges, by spinning and knitting unique items. Enjoy your visit!
