Announcement    Mid-Winter SALE!! 30% off ex-display merino/alpaca snoods.

Snoods, hats, scarves, blankets... all hand woven in the UK with the finest quality merino/alpaca wool (fleece snoods also available). The results are soft, lightweight, and very very warm!

I weave using only my fingers, hands, and arms, so the woollies you see in this shop are the ultimate in handmade! I make snoods, hats, scarves, and blankets. If you would like a sample to check the colour, please get in touch.

All products are made from either: high-quality, beautifully soft, warm, and lightweight wool, which is 60% merino and 40% alpaca; or an incredibly soft fleecy yarn for folk who don't like wool (these are 100% polyester). I also work with many shades, so you can have any colour or colour-combination you like! All products are made to order. I can also make things using your own wool, or any other yarn of your choice, as long as it's chunky.

Everyone should have a beautifully soft hand-knitted snood like this one! I bought two more for Christmas presents and if I could, I'd buy loads more in all the stunning colours on offer! Leigh very kindly ordered the particular colour blue my mother wanted and knitted both that and the charcoal one in time for Christmas - a fantastic bespoke service which I can't recommend highly enough! Will be returning for more.

About

Handmade woollies - made using my hands alone!

I started playing with wool when I was tiny, sewing patterns onto floppy bits of hessian. I graduated through knitting, tapestry, and eventually on to arm-weaving and crochet. The idea of snoods came via an artist friend (who has a great eye for anything creative), and although it the art of arm weaving took a while to master, I loved being free of tools. All I needed was wool, and me, and I could be making! Making snoods (sometimes called infinity scarves) is perfect for the arm-weaving technique, as it results in a very loose weave to trap the air, and so the warmth.

Later, I learned to crochet, and began developing a style of finger crochet that I could do without a hook. Next came the rainbow blankets, then hats and scarves too. These items are better suited to the tighter weave of crochet.

I'm currently working on a rainbow jumper (see picture), as well as fingerless gloves. These will be ready for sale at a later date.

(All products are made from super high-quality wool: 60% merino and 40% alpaca – it's beautifully soft, warm, and lightweight – or an incredibly soft fleecy yarn for folk who don't like wool (these are 100% polyester). All products are made to order. I can also make things using your own wool, or any other yarn of your choice, as long as it's chunky.)

Although I have specialised in wool, I'm interested in all forms of art, and I blog about it here: http://www.wildbrookwoollies.co.uk.
