Ethereal and elegant pieces to invoke a sense of calmness and peace..
I am a New Orleans self taught fluid acrylic artist that is inspired by the heavenly bodies and landscapes that are full of color and whimsy. I started acrylic painting in 2018 with a major focus on negative space. The idea of fluid art intrigued me but it wasn't my style to throw paint on a canvas haphazardly. I wanted to build delicate, ethereal, organic shapes that invoke a sense of peace and calm within the negative space.
Acrylic Fluid Art really reminded me of my childhood ...and coloring outside the lines. It brings me joy to know that I can make up my own rules with the paint. I can use restraint or let go ...and sometimes I let the flow of the acrylic show me what it wants to do. Regardless, I decided that "Willie," a family nickname from my childhood had to be a part of my brand and logo.
I use a few different fluid art techniques but the main one I employ is painting with my own breath. By doing so, I’m able to manipulate the paint with more control. I am always pushing to create larger pieces and it's a goal of mine to create a large canvas with the technique I employ in my smaller pieces.
