A really simple and lovely piece -- great with jeans and a white shirt, or with the LBD. Thanks!

Wimsey Jewelery

A good part of my whole has been centered around making things. I was fortunate that my mother insisted that my sister and I to learn to sew at a young age, and that has probably been the most significant factor in developing my love for making jewelry. You might ask how one might wind up with those two passions, and the answer is that they intersect very well as both require the utilization and manipulation of colors, textures, and shapes to create an original piece of clothing as well as an original piece of jewelry.

Fortunately my husband enjoys photography so our passions intersected quite nicely.

I live in Charlottesville and teach elementary aged children. My husband (my photographer) and I have three wonderful children no longer living with us so we have replaced each child who has left the nest with a rescued Bernese Mountain dog.

Welcome to WimseyJewelry. My name is Frances, and I thank you for your interest and for visiting my shop and viewing my one of a kind pieces of wearable art. I am a public elementary school teacher and have dedicated my teaching career to working with underprivileged and special needs children. In my "spare" time I handcrafted the jewelry pieces you have viewed. Please feel free to convo me with any questions or comments – I am always happy to hear from my customers.

My artistic works are created using flamework beads, heirloom beads, gemstones, pearls, precious metals as well as antique or simply unusual or particularly unique stones and metals. I hope you enjoy my artistic creations, and you will choose to revisit my shop from time to time as I will list new items as often as possible. I will also move items from time to time, so if an item you are interested in is no longer listed, but is not in my sold items, then I’ve moved it. There is a good chance that I may still have it available for you. Ask, and I can let you know if it is still available.

I use the highest quality findings in all my work. I prefer to use 14 ct gold chain and findings as well as sterling silver, and gold filled, gold vermeil beads.

Additional policies and FAQs
Building relationships is one of the bonuses of a business. Please feel free to send me emails with questions or just to say hello.

A couple of thoughts about handmade jewelry:
Each and every piece of Wimsey Jewelry is constructed by me. All of my jewelry is not mass produced by machines and is not indestructible. Please keep in mind that your one of a kind piece of jewelry is more delicate and should be handled with common sense and will require just a bit of extra care and consideration.

It is always best to put your jewelry on last after lotions, perfumes, and hairspray have been applied and dried so as not to damage nature’s gemstones. Do not bathe or take showers in it. I take great pride in my work, and I want you to be completely happy with your purchase. If you should have a problem, please contact me and we will work something out. If not, the item can be returned unused and in its original condition within 7 business days of receipt. (the date shown on delivery confirmation as receiving your package) for a refund, minus shipping costs and PayPal transaction fees.

Repairs are available. Please convo me concerning repairs.

Resizing/modifications: In almost all cases an item can be resized up or down. If you know you will need an item resized, please convo accurate measurements to me prior to purchase/shipment to discuss the length or change required and possible options. Items requiring minor modifications in size will be done free of charge prior to shipment. If however you determine resizing is needed upon your receipt of the item, I will be happy to modify the item for you. Minor modifications will still be done free of charge; however, there will be a return shipping charge.
