I consider de Winkel van Cinkel as some kind of alter ego of mine. I'm a graphic designer and illustrator from The Netherlands, practically almost always sitting behind my computer, only getting up for lunch or for doing some household chores (I work as a freelancer from home).

I've always enjoyed creating things. Through the years it switched from drawing, writing, clay, baking, back to drawing, baking and so on. But a couple of years ago when I picked up the idea of making a crochet blanket I could not foresee that I'd get so hooked :) Since then, every time I have some time to pass, I feel the urge to pick up my crochet work. I simply can't watch a movie and not crochet in the meantime. Also the long ride (2-3 hours one way!) on the train to an assignment or my family is ideal crochet time and turns into occasional chats with interested fellow travelers. Crocheting gives me time to think about things that are on my mind, connecting to my inner self and the repetitive aspect of it calms me.

Apart from the crocheting itself, I really enjoy the search for pretty colored yarn. Thinking of the color combinations I can make with them and how it will look in someones home.
