What is 3D printing?
3D printing is an additive manufacturing process that was developed in the 1980’s. 3D printers take a 3D model and print it out layer by layer. Spools of PLA are a hard-plastic, the plastic is heated up and laid down layer upon layer, kind of like a hot glue gun! There are many different types of 3D printers that can 3D print in a wide variety of materials such as metals, porcelain, chocolate and even skin!

How durable are these earrings?
They are very durable.

How is Winter Hill Jewelry environmentally friendly?
Winter Hill jewelry is different because it is made of primarily, PLA, a plant-based plastic, which is a renewable resource. PLA is compostable and biodegradable. I consider myself an eco-conscious jeweler. When purchasing and producing the environment is always on my mind and I try not to create much waste. For example, all my earring cards and business cards are printed on 100% recycled paper. All the bubble wrap I use in packaging is biodegradable.

Why are these 3D printed earrings less expensive than others?
Most other jewelers who sell 3D printed earrings outsource the actual printing to large 3D printing service companies (it’s like a copy shop for 3D printers). I choose to print everything myself. It saves me on cost, which I am happy to pass along to my customers.

How long does shipping take?
Orders are shipped in 1-3 days of your purchase and customers receive their orders in about 5-7 business days depending on location.
