Discovering Wire

Several years ago, I acquired a roll of baling wire at a garage sale near Milaca, Minnesota and I began creating wire sculptures. I started with small, rather simple forms that were inspired by nature and as time went on I took on larger challenges.

My wire sculptures are one of a kind, three-dimensional drawings, simplifications of the intricate designs inspired by nature. They are an abstraction that’s just realistic enough to delight our memories of these scenes from our own observations. I really enjoy the process of manipulating the wire and creating forms that delight viewers.

I do not mount my sculptures on canvas, paper or plywood and they don't require a frame. I do not paint my sculptures, so solvents are not used. The sculptures are very light therefore shipping takes less energy. It is my hope that my work reflects my love of the natural world and that it is kind to the environment as well.

Thank you for stopping by. Using pliers and steel wire I create three-dimensional drawings inspired by nature. My sculptures are minimal in design, using the least amount of wire to identify the essential character and action of each piece.
