About

All Natural Products Hand-Crafted by the Farmer

Ravens Roost is a 50-acre homestead nestled between the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson River in upstate New York. We grow sheep and chickens for meat, eggs, fiber and feathers - for our ourselves and for sale to discerning customers.

Witch hazel is a shrub that grows in the woodlands at Ravens Roost Farm. Unlike most other plants, it flowers in the autumn - a spindly yellow bloom that warms the gloom of chilly fall days. I hope that the creations that my customers craft from our wool will keep them as warm and cheerful as the witch hazel blossom.

I opened my WitchHazelFeltworks Etsy shop to share the amazingly versatile wool from our Icelandic sheep with knitters, felters, crafters, artisans and fiber enthusiasts. It spins beautifully into a warm, luxurious yarn and it is excellent for both wet and needle felting. I hope you will find our wool of superior quality, style and durability.

The fine products for sale at WitchHazelFeltworks are hand-grown, hand-picked, hand-carded, hand-dyed, hand-spun and hand-made by the farmer. Now, that's a hands-on business!

Additional policies and FAQs
Measuring your head circumference:

To determine your hat size, measure circumference of head just above top of ears. Wrap measuring tape gently around head making certain tape lies over that little bump in the middle of the back of your head. Pinch the tape together, marking the measurement with your fingers. Remove the looped measuring tape and read the measurement. Don't pull the tape too tightly or your hat will fit too snugly. You can place one finger under the tape to allow for a bit of room.
