This is the first of rendered wax. The wax is melted and filtered. It will be filtered again as I make candles!
This is uncapped honey ready for the extractor...once the honey is out of the comb it comes to you in those adorable bears!!honey_pot
Honey flowing out of the extractor! We use hand power to spin the honey out of the wax comb. Yum!

About

Welcome to My Humble Hive

I am Susan Butts, owner and beekeeper of Butts' Bees Apiary and WonderBee Organics of Mississippi.
I met my husband in the south and we began our family. My daughters and sons were all birthed at home, breast-fed and home schooled. We are passionate about feeding our family good clean foods . Organic sustainable diversity is as important to our children, our community and our planet as it is to the future of our honeybees.
I have been beekeeping for over twelve years. From the very start we have used only organic methods. It all began because we had an organic garden to help feed our growing family (we have six children).
We all care for our honeybees. Personally, I think women make the best beekeepers. We have a natural disposition to patience and gentleness that the bees enjoin.

What has become known as “traditional” beekeeping is not only using smoke in the hive but using an arsenal of hard chemicals, anti biotics, miticides and a homebrew of pesticides. This “traditional” beekeeper wears a HAZMAT suit and gloves to apply these treatments. Even to remove the honey from the hive they may apply yet another chemical to remove the bees from the frames. These chemicals leave residues in the wax of the hive and interfere with the life of the honeybee.

My apiary is smoke-less and 100% organically managed. What does this mean? It means I use NO Chemicals, NO Antibiotics, NO Miticides & NO Smoke in my hives. I believe that those chemicals and the residues they leave behind are bad for the honeybee and bad for our families. In this fast paced world the honeybees deserve a beekeeper that is willing to slow down and let bees be bees in their natural state.

Bees store honey for their use during times that have nothing blooming. When they produce a surplus we harvest it. We Never take all of their stores! We leave them enough to rebuild their strong colonies and never feed them High Fructose Corn Syrup.
Our method of beekeeping is allowing the bees to draw their own comb. We do not use commercial foundation. We are Top Bar beekeepers in a Langstroth hive. The bees draw all their own wax which makes for a healthier comb in our comb honey and it tastes better too!
We extract by hand, we uncap by hand, we use only clean energy... muscle power!
We produce raw varietal honeys and pure bees wax candles that I am proud to offer your family for their health and their pleasure!

Show some love

If you love what you ordered please leave a rating so others can be comfortable with their purchase too!
On Etsy ratings can be a help and as I strive to make our offerings the best a rating could show me some LOVE! Thanks

Naturally Candied

Honey that is not heated (raw) can crystallize. Honey does not go bad but some folks prefer liquid honey to the crystallized or firm honey.
To re-liquefy honey you can:
set the jar in a warm sunny window, turn or shake as needed
or
set the jar in a double boiler with the lid off, on very low heat warm the jar. Do not heat over 100 degrees as this will begin to kill off all the natural enzymes that raw honey is good for!

Shipping Policy and Wrap

We ship via USPS. If we overcharge you for shipping by $1.00 or more we will refund your account via the same method you paid.

The auto calculator for multiple quantities may add per item. As stated above this will be refunded, (see above).

We RE-USE packaging!
I am a firm believer in recycling whatever I can. It holds my costs down and yours while keeping an eye to the health of the planet.

If you need something wrapped special let's work it out... I love pretty things too!
