I feel like one more bridge has been laid among people from around the world
I have a passion for making gifts for my family, friends, and decorating home throughout the seasons. Hi, my name is Eiginta. I am the artist behind the home decor line.
I was born and grew in the city (Vilnius, capital of Lithuania), but I knew how to milk cows, cook on a wood burning stove, and work in a farm. I learned all of it from my grandparents by spending summers and many days throughout the years in the country. Surrounded by forests and country nature, I strived to capture the beauty of nature and living things on my own.
After my husband visited the place in the US, were his grandmother was born, we ended up by living and raising our own family here.
Creativity has been essential in my life. When I opened my Etsy shop in October of 2010 by listing my paintings, I've learned that sharing my creativity with the world is the best feeling. Since my childhood, I loved to take time and make a handmade gift. That is why I titled my shop as: “Artful gifts created for giving”. Each item I create is a gift from the bottom of my heart. I love to handcraft something new decorating home for any occasion. One year, caught up in the upcoming holiday mood, I discovered my love for burlap unexpectedly, when I made my first burlap table runner with satin ribbon. My family appreciated it, so I decided to list a table runner in my Etsy shop.
I love the organic feel and look, and coarse texture of burlap fabric. I never thought that simple burlap will open up my creativity in so many directions. Every time I make a new table runner, I feel like one more bridge has been laid among people from anywhere around the world. That's why each item is being made with great love and care, taking time and enjoying the creating process. I love making custom orders (I accept any length of table runner no matter how long it would be) because I believe that the table runner I made will be something that will join families and friends around the table having a wonderful time with laughter and everlasting memories.
ABOUT BURLAP. Burlap fabric is also known as hessian and jute. The coarse texture of burlap comes from the fact it is made from the skin of the jute plant, one of the least expensive textile crops in the world--and one of the strongest. Jute fibers have a high content of cellulose, a major component of plant stalks, as well as lignin, a constituent of wood. The result is a textile fiber that is part cloth and part wood, heat resistant, easy to dye and very strong (source: http://www.ehow.com/about_4577712_history-of-burlap.html).
Jute has earned the title ' The Golden Fiber of Bangladesh '. Jute is plant base natural fiber, which is 100% biodegradable and is often considered to be one of the most environmentally friendly green crops as it has so many practical uses on daily life, thus reducing the impact on other, less sustainable natural resources. Jute products are creating awareness on eco-friendly and green movement around the world. Jute products will lead to a low carbon footprint and more sustainable earth. Jute fiber is a totally natural biodegradable fiber obtained from the jute plant and it is therefore an extremely attractive renewable resource for those who are at the forefront of the environmental movement and those who give top priority to environmental and ecological concerns. Reusable jute bags triumph over single use paper and plastic bags. While the embodied energy of jute bags is higher, the fact that many people will use a single jute bag over several years results in it being the most eco-friendly green product. Jute bags can be recycled. When they have served their purpose. Also the decomposition process of jute does not generate any toxic harmful emission as bi-products. The production of petroleum base polypropylene fiber, the main synthetic competitor of jute, requires 10-20 times more energy consumption than does the production of jute. So jute remain only alternative eco-friendly agricultural product that can replace the man made synthetic plastic (source: http://www.goldenfiberbd.com).
