We pride ourselves on wood selection, choosing just the right one to show the best of the wood for the item we're creating. We try to use every scrap of wood creatively and use re-claimed wood when we can; then we use a natural and durable finish such as Danish oil (where practical) to enhance the beauty of our finished products.
We're on Facebook, where we share woodworking and other parts of our lives. Thanks for stopping by!

About

Love that sawdust!

We both grew up with creative parents who were always making something and planning ahead to the next creation.

Bruce had acquired a few "machines" and knew how to use them! Then one day Bruce said he wanted to go to the WoodWorkers' Show and Deb said she'd go along "just to see what there is to see." We came home with catalogs and brochures and more ideas on how to fit a more complete woodshop into the basement. Because Bruce was downstairs a lot, Deb said she should get a scroll saw so she had some reason to be there, too.

Like many others, we started making things for ourselves, and then giving things to family and friends. Then came the "You should sell these" comments, which we obviously believed.

We both had some previous experience with all things wooden, and it just took off...... so much so that we moved into a different home with a separate structure for a woodshop. When we moved, the stress involved in moving table saws, band saws, scroll saws, etc. up a set of narrow stairs became the pleasure of relocating into a ground level and much larger space. That meant more space for more tools and equipment and WOOD! Then in late 2016, we left Colorful Colorado for the serenity of acreage in the Ozarks of Missouri. We have since expanded the existing woodshop and most importantly, have vowed to never, ever move again!

We have learned that a sense of humor is important for those times when all our hard work does not bring the results we want and our latest creation turns up in the firewood pile. Fortunately, it does not happen often.

The actual wood selection is something we truly enjoy, as it's the beginning of our ideas becoming reality. The things Mother Nature can do with trees - and sometimes do TO trees - gives us amazement, joy, and a lot from which to choose.

Seventeen years later, here we are, still making sawdust...... and hopefully some other things that are practical, pretty or playful.

It is a rare moment when I am not thinking about making something new........

    Even the butterflies like Bruce!

  • Casper

    Apprentice

Puppy Casper came to us in December, 2014. He spent his apprenticeship learning wood identification while learning NOT to chew on electrical cords. His role in the woodshop has expanded to include being head guardian and loyal companion.

  • Mr. Moose

    Designer

Moose was our consultant we lost in March 2014. He was a special part of our lives. When we needed him, we looked just outside the shop door, where he was usually on guard. His specialty was wood selection...... he had a real nose for it!
