Washi paper now available! I am so excited to finally share my handmade paper with you! Washi was first and foremost the purpose of launching Woodash Handmade. "Woodash" refers to an alkaline used to prepare harvested kozo fiber for paper formation. Ash from burning hardwood is added to boiling water while the fibers cook, it softens the fibers and gives them a beautiful white luster.
The Washi available in my shop is all made by hand in my home studio – I follow traditional Japanese methods of beating the plant fibers by hand with an oak mallet and forming sheets on a traditional fine mesh Suketa. Fibers treated in this way remain long and weave together in the formation process to create a strong, but soft paper. 100 % archival and available sized or unsized.
I will be adding different Washi papers to my listings throughout the coming weeks. All Washi will be made to order and will take approximately a week for sheets to dry and be packed for shipping.

5 out of 5 starsAbsolutely gorgeous-I am totally in love with this necklace! Made of hammered copper with shiny metallic, subtly light green petals, this little beauty is a real standout. It is lightweight and at the same time very substantial. Emily has expert artist's eyes for shape and line and a real mastery of her craftsmanship. The sunflower, a symbol of hope and happiness, brings a big smile to my face and I know this charming pendant will to many others as well! Thank you so much! Sue T.

Care instructions
The copper used in my jewelry is raw and will patina naturally with time and wear. All pieces are polished and finished with Renaissance Wax to keep them fingerprint free and slow tarnishing. If the natural patina is not desired on copper, it can be removed with a mix of vinegar, salt, and warm water, scrubbed gently with a toothbrush.
Experiencing a greenish reaction on your skin?
Some people will experience a greenish tint to their skin where raw copper jewelry is worn. This is natural, harmless, and will wash off with soap and water.
