About

Personalized Gifts For All

WoodyThings.com, also known as WoodyWoodWorks here on Etsy is a family owned small business with meticulous attention to detail. We aim to exceed your expectation with each and every order. We offer premium items at value prices. The bulk of our business is made to order products, meaning, low to no inventory or overhead. As such, we are able to pass on the savings to you!

About Raquel, your founding shop owner:
I was born and raised in the Bronx, N.Y.C., but I have been fortunate yo travel and live all over the United States, thanks to my husband’s former military (Marine Corps) career. We are now blessed to call Connecticut our home.My passion is this company and the items I share for sale. I absolutely love and appreciate personalized, handmade items… and I truly enjoy making themI have been doing this since 2006. This is more than a hobby or my stress reliever. Whether I am happy, anxious or sad, this is what I turn to. Hashtag #Crafting!

When I am feeling down, this lifts me up and when I am feeling happy, this keeps me on “cloud 9”. Needless to say I spend a lot of my free time painting and decoupaging on anything wooden. It brings me great satisfaction to take an unfinished wooden item, and with a little bit of paint, paper and a few other elements transform it into something totally different, awesome and new and to be able to say, I created that.

I do not specialize in any one thing in particular. I just go with what I feel like making. Sometimes I have an idea for a nice jewelry box, and other times I want to paint a birdhouse, or hanging frame , etc. Sometimes I want to crackle or distress something and other times I just want to make an item that is bold and fun. Whatever it maybe, it’s ALWAYS wooden. Hence the company name, “WoodyThings”

I have fun with every piece and put a lot of love, time and care into each item I create.

I enjoy making up my own children’s stories for my kids, and since they LOVE it when I do that, I decided to publish my stories for them on another awesome website called, blurb.com where they print out your books for you, illustrations and all. This is why I call myself an “unofficial” author.

As I mentioned I also love taking photographs of the people and things that surround me. I take my camera everywhere I go because I never know when I’ll get inspired by something. My favorite thing to photograph is nature which is funny because I am not a lover of the outdoors at all. I do however, appreciate its beauty.

Where every now and again I will write a “How to” article on some of the items I make and share some of my photographs too.

A little more about me? I earned a Bachelor’s in Business from Monroe College (Go Mustangs!); I am a proud mother of 3 (Hazel, Hannah and Jonathan); and a happy wife of 1 (Angel) .

I really hope you enjoy my shop as much as I enjoyed making each item.

Thank you so much for stopping by and having a look. I post things often so be sure to come back and take a look, you never know, you might find something you just gotta have.
