Meet the owner of Wool & Linen Mercantile

I started sewing at age 10 (I kid you not) on my mother’s Singer sewing machine. It started with snooping in her closet and the large basket of fabrics. I was hooked immediately, even after I put a needle through my finger. Every girl in a 2-block area wore a reversible triangle scarf. I still remember the fabric was a blue background with brown umbrellas and reverse fabric brown corduroy.

On through years of prom dresses and homecoming (red velvet), sewing allowed me to have a whole different wardrobe and I got a chance to be my creative self.

After high school, my college choices were fashion design or interior design. I went the safe route with interiors and enjoyed a career for many years. I always loved fabrics – the feel – and what you could do with all the coordinates. My favorite fabric was always linen and living in the Midwest, wool. I lived in linen and still do.

And so here I’ve wanted to work from home creating all my favorite things around me. There has been trial and error, but everyday has been a learning experience. I actually threw my first purses away!

So thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy my products and ideas :)

P.S. – New designs will be coming soon, including wool hanging lamps, Ikat collection, and brown collection.

Quality: I want my costumers to be wowed and I make every effort to insure this. I use the highest quality fabrics and leather. I take great pride in my work and much satisfaction to produce the best product possible.

Please note that bags are cut from Pendleton blankets and fabrics layout of fabrics may vary due to the pattern repeats. I use Pendleton because it of highest quality and durability. Please note that custom orders are not returnable!!!! A note on the leather.... I buy very expensive leather but I cannot promise because it is a cow that there may be slight imperfections.
