Announcement   Needle felted dogs, cats, wildlife, and custom sculptures by artist Janice Cordeiro.

I have been invited to submit art for inclusion in "International Contemporary Masters”, a leading juried annual art publication presenting noteworthy artists from all over the world by the Assistant Curator of World Wide Art Promotion. They distribute to Galleries to promote the artists. Also, My Christmas Elf is to be published in the UK in a craft magazine. The piece has sold.

Buy with confidence! I give you a full year guarantee from date of purchase. That's a bit unprecedented, but I have a great deal of confidence in my work. I have never had a piece returned for repairs or problems of any sort. I am beginning my 6th year selling on Etsy. It's fun, and I opened a second shop to house my organic, handmade artisan soap.
Come visit at UptownGirlSoap. Your skin will thank you!

Gifts For Any Occasion! No charge for gift wrapping or rush service. Needle felted, all wool handmade soft sculptures are adult collectible art. I am a published artist and have been featured by Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Crafts Magazine. My work sells in galleries across the USA. Many of my pieces have made Etsy front page exposure. Spend a few minutes with my handmade Mohair Bears. They love company.

I can create any breed dog, cat or wild animal that you request. It takes approximately 4 to 5 days to create one dog. I can create for you, as much as is possible, a true likeness of your pet. My shop contains some of the breeds and most are available to ship immediately.

The question I am most often asked is how long a wool piece will last. The oldest textile surviving to this day is fine woolen fabric that is approximately 2500 years old. The oldest surviving textile made out of wool is approximately 3,500 years old. So, I feel safe in saying, your piece will stand the test of time, and can be passed down from one generation to the next.

Why wool sculptures don't degrade over time:

Wool is comparatively stronger than steel.
Wool is fire resistant
The flexibility of wool fiber makes it durable, adding to longevity of a sculpture
Wool is composed of the same protein that makes up the outer protective layer of your skin
Wool fabric doesn't collect much static because of its absorbent fibers. Static attracts lint, dirt, and dust. Your sculpture stays clean naturally
Wool is a renewable and sustainable resource that must be sheared from sheep annually
Wool is a 100 % natural fiber
Wool has a permanent natural resistance to microbial growth and odor retention
The pieces in my own collection have been with me many, many years and look as good today as the day they were created.

As you can tell from the sculptures I create, I am an animal lover. My shop has donated pieces to the ABC Basset Hound Rescue Inc. for their auction. A Pet Memorial Sculpture was also donated to the American Cancer Society's Bark For Life summer event. I'm a member and contributor to the ASPCA, as well as Angel's Among Us. All worth while endeavors, so, if the opportunity arises to help, they greatly appreciate it.

work is portrayed in a positive manner. I retain the copyright on all items I create.

About

Happiness is creating from my heart and soul. I add my love of animals to every one of my creations.

I find I am happiest creating! I love sculpting little animals to have a realistic presence. Capturing their essence in wool can be a challenge. If one of my pieces can bring happiness to someone, then, I have done my job. I create with my head, my heart and my hands. As a traditionally educated artist I bring my background into each piece. I think of needle felting as a craft. A medium for expression. What I create is the art.

Artists are usually involved with many different mediums to utilize their artistic energy, and so it is with me. I have a great love for photography and continue to hone my skill in that area. I love the beauty of Mother Nature, that original, albeit temperamental, artist. I became a Master Gardener to enable my garden design endeavors. Art through flowers adds great beauty to our environment. I continue to create floral paintings in oil.

I add professional sculptures to my shop on a regular basis. All my items are custom made, without benefit of a pattern, so I add slowly . No gimmicks! All original, all handmade and all made with a concern for quality. I have always been very detail oriented. So give a piece of original art, sculpted by a professional artist, to that someone special. It will be appreciated and remembered. The day may end, but the gift will be long remembered.

The loss of a beloved pet is difficult. I create memorial sculptures as a way to keep them in our hearts and mind. I keep mine on the fireplace mantel. When the day comes that they must leave me, they will keep watch there.

The question I am most often asked is how long a wool piece will last. The oldest textile surviving to this day is fine woolen fabric that is approximately 2500 years old. The oldest surviving textile made from wool is approximately 3,500 years old. So, I feel safe in saying, your piece will stand the test of time.

I am a featured designer for Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Crafts Magazine. My holiday ornament snowflake design is a popular item. My pieces can be found in many boutiques and gift shops.

I have been featured in over 2600 treasuries on Etsy. If you don't see what you want, just ask and I will try to add it to my shop. My pieces are in homes across America and quite a few foreign countries.

I treasure all the wonderful comments I receive on my sculptures, but this one really touched my heart: "I was looking at your shop and I almost thought you were selling live animals! Your felt work is gorgeous, almost lifelike." I received a Thank You note recently. It said, "When I opened the box I started tearing up!" That lets me know I did the job. Makes me want to work harder.

So spend a few quiet minutes with my creations. They bring peace to the heart.

Thanks for stopping by Wool Sculptures by Janice Cordeiro. I hope you enjoy looking at my creations as much as I've enjoyed creating them. It all starts with a flat piece of wool and a barbed needle. That's it! No pattern! All pieces spring from my imagination.

Some days you browse, some days you shop and some days you just need something to make you smile. Thanks for stopping by.
