WELCOME TO THE WOOLEN CROW .........where you will find only selected quality materials for a vast array of offerings for your talents and creativity. As you stroll through my store and view the hand-felted 100% WOVEN wools (as opposed to craft felt) felted sweaters (many cashmere), fantastic prices and quality, as well as colorful leathers, your mind will "swirl" with ideas for tremendous uses for the vast array of choices.

I came upon the idea of providing suitable sewing materials to other folks who are as meticulous for authenticity as I am with my crafts. My big love was Santa Clauses, and I was always looking for a unique one-of-a-kind Santa (and primitive if possible) to add to my collection; and it became very obvious to me as a true collector that possibly crafters did not have access to what I considered to be appropriate materials for their creations. Since I had developed a love for fabrics even as a toddler, I decided that I would do more with that love and offer "correct Santa fabrics' by recycling "the real product--that being to felt vintage wool that presents texture, intense color, ease of workability, and gives durability that would allow artists' work to last forever.

I began the search for pure wool garments, for which I thoroughly enjoyed the hunt, as I had never enjoyed working on craft store felt. In fact I had discarded several items created on that material called felt which was compressed fibers.
Thus, the WoolenCrow was born...and also served an interest of mine.

Being a citizen concerned about our environment, I offer "recycled" or "materials for repurposing" as well as new materials such as those I cut from full leather hides." One fabric seems to lead to others, as you may also find pure linen, and vintage items and large sized fabrics from which you may create large items. The sizes of my materials may also possibly save you time and energy and prevent your having to purchase surplus quantities, therefore saving money and increasing your profits from sales. Lots of my items are not available in chain fabric stores or small retail communities. Now that I am in the mountains, of North Carolina, I certainly know what it is to live in a small community. Thank goodness, we are not too far from Asheville, N.C.

I don't think as a child I was never not surrounded by fabrics. When I was just a tot, I followed by mother and grandmother all around the fabric warehouses during the summers spent in Nashville. My mother was an outstanding seamstress--Apparently inheriting the talent of her uncle who was a master tailor in England. She even made all of the clothing for the Dr. Pepper Twins." So the nut did not fall far from the tree ."

From these experiences, I exhibited the same ability as the adults in being able to identify types of fabrics. Equally as well, I started accomplishing needlepoint and cross stitch at 10 years of age, followed by knitting at 13. My two little boys had hood sweaters and toy soldiers, characters, etc. that I knitted. So none of the type of needlework ever left me, as I still get excited when I come across a real find.

Our move to North Carolina has opened many other fiber arts for me, as I have taken up peg loom weaving--one of the most ancient forms of weaving--needle felting, nuno felting, and wet felting. So seldom am I without some type of fiber in my hands. I am a member of the Western North Carolina Fibers/Handweavers Guild, as well as the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair.

Due to personal setbacks, my Etsy site has not been up to date, as in the previous 18-month period, my sales for felted pure wool and leather hide pieces totaled over 2,600 due to so many repeat customer-friends. So at this time I am storing container upon container of wools, leather pieces and full hides to offer by customers.

If you are looking for "fun," in addition to your creations, set your sewing aside and come to a state known for its' array of crafts actually started by "mountain women" for necessary family funds. Here in Hendersonville and Brevard we have white squirrels. Or you can attend a festival of some kind every night of the YEAR or dine on the sidewalks of our main street while watching folk dancing and the folks strolling by -- many walking their dogs. OR, go on over to Asheville and tour the famous 8,000-acre 250-room Biltmore Estate and Gardens ----or join the "leaf peepers" in the fall on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is always something to do here in North Carolina from the great mountains to the sea.

6/30/16 Well, I thought I was back, but you need to thoroughly read on in my SHIPPING POLICY down this page.

Due to ETSY's theoretically unfair policy requiring sellers to either allow them to compute shipping costs OR set a fixed shipping cost for ALL of my listings, regardless of their weight, size,or destination (with such info being provided at the time of initial listing), changes in my shipping costs are required. see below

WELCOME!!!

The Woolen Crow is finally and slowly returning with many new items awaiting to be offered after being "on vacation" for an extended period of time (about 18 months) due to a horrendous move and storage issue in addition to extended health issues for both my husband and me.

I am very excited about being back and will work as hard as I can to get items listed up to my normal capacity. But it will take a while to do so.

I am very aware of the needs of folks who live in small and distance locations, having moved to the mountains of North Carolina and suffered a degree of "culture shock" --(related to personal needs. coming from a population of 600,000 to 14,000.)

From the Woolen Crow, you may find that perfect wool, leather, primitive fabric, vintage items from my 50% down-sizing, as well as some items I may choose to create myself, as my interest in wool far exceeds just the selling factor. And now in North Carolina, a nationally known craft area, I have access to learning to needle felt, wet felt, weave, spin, etc. As indicated before, I cut my baby teeth on fabrics with my mom and grandmother with all of the fabric warehouses in Nashville, Tennessee.

Regardless of all of my apparent "setbacks." my customers will continue to receive only the best in quality, as before, for your creativity. I encourage new potential customers to read my feedback from before and look forward to helping serving your needs.

Payment
I much prefer payment by PAYPAL as it is safe, secure, timely, easy to use, and provides a great trail; and its' use is necessary for me to make any refunds in regard to excess shipping costs. We do accept payment through ETSY SHOP PAYMENTS using your preferred credit card. They are safe, secure, timely. If you do not have an active PAY PAL account, you can set one up easily or use your credit card for payment by proceeding with the following:
1. Add items in your cart.
2 . Click "check out with paypal".
3,. Click "pay with your debit or credit card".

Payment by CHECK (minimum of $10.00 for merchandise) is also accepted, but checks must clear my bank account before shipping, therefore possibly delaying your shipment. No payment is accepted by CASH, MONEY ORDERS, or GIFT CARDS by The Woolen Crow.
Shipping
6/30/16 Hopefully this is a temporary change......but still in effect as
of November 1, 2016.

***************************

For ETSY I have to now let them compute the shipping cost on EACH LISTING according to its weight, dimensions of shipping package, and destination-- based upon info given at the TIME OF ORIGINAL LISTING......OR... set a FIXED shipping cost for ALL LISTINGS, regardless of their size, cost, weight, or destination. Since my items vary so in size and appropriate shipping materials, I am unable to give SUCH INFORMATION-- so I am forced to..........establish a FIXED SHIPPING COST FOR ALL ITEMS, regardless of their cost or size, or weight, SIZE OF SHIPPING CONTAINER, OR DESTINATION.

This seems very unfair to me; and the ONLY way of which I am aware is to ship everything by USPS PRIORITY FIXED RATE at a price of $6.45 for both letter and legal sizes. Their slogan is "if it fits, it ships." These envelopes provide insurance up to $100 as well as tracking info and confirmation. Of course. these envelopes hold a lot, so there may not be an overcharge of shipping costs after all. With their cardboard construction and my "over-the-top" method of wrapping your leathers will not have any creases or wrinkles. If your order will not fit in the legal-sized envelope, will convo you and we will decide how to send the balance of your order.

I have added to "shipping cost for additional item" .05 merely to make sure everyone understands that I combine shipping costs for multi-item orders with no additional cost except for the .05. Having put in the 0.00 in this space for the second item in the past may have confused folks that I do not combine shipping costs. I believe this amounts to .95 for to two leather orders which are heavily wrapped. In most cases, your multi-istem orders will fit in these priority envelopes. If the bulk of your order will not fit into the legal-sized envelope, I will convo you and we will decide the best way to send the balance of your order.

IN THE EVENT I CAN SHIP YOUR ORDER BY US POSTAL FIRST CLASS MAIL FOR AN AMOUNT LESS THAN THE FIXED PRIORITY RATE OF $6.45, I WILL BE GLAD TO REFUND THE DIFFERENCE THROUGH YOUR PAY PAL ACCOUN WITH A MINIMUM REFUND OF $1.50. I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO REFUND TO OTHER TYPES OF PAYMENTS.

ETSY strongly urges us to include the cost of of our shipping supplies in the price of the listed item. That -- I cannot agree to do, as I feel it is very unfair to INFLAT THE COST OF AN ITEM. Meanwhile, check back and see if things have changed. Meanwhile, I still have some great buys to list but nothing that would not justify a shipping cost of $6.45 and .05 additional shipping costs for additional listed items in your order.

Hopefully this complicated procedure will be altered in the future and we can return to normal business. ..various first class mail costs or necessary Priority Flat Rate Envelopes, which are most always used for leather orders and multi-item fabric orders anyway.

*****************************

Due to my new location, I must have 3-5 days to get your order on its' way to you. If you are meeting a deadline, please let me know at the time you place your order so we can work it out.

Priority Flat Rate Envelope packages should be received within 2 days, no more than 3. Parcel Post packages are usually large orders and shipment includes tracking and insurance on my part. These are dates given by the Post Office but I cannot control weather conditions, catastrophes or personal delays. I think we have had all of those some time in the past.

Please note that I ship to the confirmed address as given on the order papers. and I DO NOT SHIP TO POST OFFICE BOXES----so be sure your address is confirmed.

AGAIN, AT THIS TIME, I AM UNABLE TO SHIP ON THE INTERNATIONAL LEVEL.

Feel free to contact me at 803 467-5511. I look forward to "picking up where I left off" due to personal circumstances and THE INCURRED SHIPPING COST PROBLEM CREATED FOR ME BY ETSY--- and offer my standard quality of service and product.
Refunds and Exchanges
I wish all of my customers complete satisfaction with your orders. If you feel you do have a problem, please let me know immediately and we will certainly come to an amiable agreement. I have a minimum of $10.00 for any item deemed returnable and do not accept any returns which are part of a total order. Returned orders must have advanced approval as well as be in unused condition with original tags and packing forms, Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser.

IF I have erred in shipping the wrong item or by accident a defect in the item, I will allow the return and pay shipping. First of all, the returned package must be in unused condition with original tags and packaging information enclosed as sent to you by the Woolen Crow and notification must be made to me within 5 days after you receive your order (the date of signing to receive your package according to to the Shipping Courier's package tracking information.) Shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer and are not refundable by the WoolenCrow (unless I am at fault).
Additional policies and FAQs
I do not accept wholesale orders, and again, no International orders.
