=================================================================
In 2008, when I couldn’t find indoor slippers made from wool and leather for my toddler, I made some from thrift store clothing. I listed a few pair on Etsy, completely unaware that I was starting a business that I would love more than any job I'd ever had.

It's not surprising that I started a business considering my roots. My parents "lived off the land" on a rural farm in West Virginia. They instilled the entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and environmental awareness in my brother and me. Despite a rural upbringing, I got an engineering degree and worked a corporate job for 12 years before quitting to stay at home with my baby. Now I blend my creative side with my analytical side in a unique way that fits me perfectly.

My daily activities include buying used sweater and leather materials, making trips to the laundromat for felting, designing slippers, cutting, photographing, updating my Etsy shop, and interacting with my fantastic customers. It’s a challenge to mesh all of this with stay at home parenting, but I love that my daughter has the fortune of seeing me build and run my own business just as I watched my parents. The key to my productivity is my full-time helper, Emily, who now does nearly all of my sewing.

I strive to tread lightly on the earth when I make your slippers. All of my sweaters and leather are previously worn clothing, most of which are leftovers from thrift stores. My scraps are donated to local crafters and to preschools for their craft projects. I line dry my sweaters after they’ve been washed with environmentally friendly soap. I bike to the post office to ship my goods whenever I can. I also use recycled and recyclable shipping envelopes, along with other earth friendly practices. I feel that it is my duty to provide you with quality products that are made in the most environmentally way possible.

I love that my work is interwoven with my life. It feels natural; it feels right. Thank you for making it possible.

WHAT SIZE DO I NEED?
For the best fit, measure you or your child's feet so that you make the correct size! Trace the foot on a piece of paper and measure the length.

>> For babies and kids, add UP TO ½ inch (or 1.25 cm) for growing room and choose a size from the chart below.
>> For adults, choose the size which is closest to the length of your foot, as they do stretch slightly.

WOOLY BABY SIZES

SIZE------- SOLE LENGTH------------ US SIZE

FIT: Wooly Baby slippers are meant to be roomy and tend to fit wide feet well. They may be worn with socks. For babies and kids, size up. For adults, order the length which is closest to the length of your foot (as they do stretch slightly). If too much stretch occurs, washing your slippers will bring them back to the original size.
