About

New life for old wooly sweaters.

It all started with an Advent Angel/Secret Santa gift exchange. The first pair of slippers I ever made was for my friend Joel, who was born with size-13 feet and two extra toes. They were a weird brown fleece complete with an inner sole made from a padded envelope. It was the thought that counted.

Now nearly 15 years, later I am making hundreds of slippers in twelve sizes ranging from Newborn to Mens 13.

Crazy because I went to a smarty pants college-prep high school that didn't offer Home-Ec. I can make tons of slippers, but would need a You Tube video to sew in a zipper! Yet I am making use of my expensive 4-year degree in Environmental Studies and keeping toes warm everywhere.

I love the hunt involved in finding old sweaters and always wonder what the other patrons of my local laundromat think when I appear to be washing my entire wardrobe.

My favorite part of the whole process is matching the different colors and textures of old sweaters, seeing new life in the ugly out dated sweaters, and all the feet that will soon be warm and cozy.

I couldn't do it without her. Tagging, cutting out bottoms, lint brushing, all around schlepping giant bags of wooliness.
