Ordering this wallet from WorldofLeathercraft was by far the best Etsy transaction I've ever experienced. The customer service was fantastic! The wallet was supposed to be a Christmas present, but it was so nice I had to give it to my husband early. He loves it. The attention to detail is amazing. I can tell the wallet will last a long time.

I love these wallets. They look amazing, small enough to fit in your pocket, unique design, and are very sturdy. Nice packaging as well. Will make a great gift

About

Fun and geeked out leather. Custom orders welcome!

At WorldofLeathercraft, personalized leather goods are my business. If you are looking for nerd gifts or gift ideas for boyfriend, girlfriend, mom, dad, co-worker, I can help you come up with something unique. Especially, if the person is hard to buy for because they are into some obscure online game, anime cartoon, cosplay,or sci-fi show. Between my son and I, we have enough Geek Cred to ferret out an individual spin on any gift you have in mind. Check out my feedback page to see what people say about the cool gifts for guys and girls that they have purchased. Don't think that worldofleathercraft geek gifts is all I do though. I also have quite a few Celtic designs you can choose from or you can send me your own. In the past I have done a variety of other themes like sports, hunting, horror, business logos, and military symbols. So don't let what you see here limit you. I just happen to like geekery but I'm always happy to try something new and different. :)

While I'm in my leather work shop, my day goes like this...
cut...pound...(Rosie! Get out of the rabbit litter!)...carve...bevel...(ROSIE! GET OUT OF BRIAN'S LITTER!)...more beveling...this is great I'm in the zone...(ROSIE!!!!!!)...Finally, I get up and put a gate in front of Brian's litter to stop the madness (see Rosies mugshot above). Then I go back to buffing...dyeing...buffing...coating with resolene...and getting ready to stitch. At this point I move into the living room and watch TV while I poke the needle through pre-made holes in the leather and puuuuuull it the rest of the way through with a small pair of needle nose pliers. Occasionally, a cat will insinuate itself onto my lap and proceed to think clawing at the nylon sinew is great fun. So then it goes something like this...poke the needle through the leather and pull (stop it!)...move the sinew so it's harder for the cat to reach...again...(ouch!! got caught with a claw)...pull some more...(dangit! ouch!!!) dump the cat onto the floor and fend off anymore snuggling attempts.

When I'm not doing leather work, I am driving all over the countryside providing speech therapy for a home health company. I really like the freedom and I'm not cooped up in a therapy gym all day.

Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

Lightly coat with olive oil every 3-4 months. This keeps the leather from drying out and makes it last much longer.

Custom and personalized orders

Q: Can I get a different image on your stuff?
A: You sure can. Just attach the picture in a convo or email it to me at worldleathercraft@att.net

Q: How much does a different picture cost?
A: If it is something with quite a bit of detail it can cost up to $15 more per image. If it is a pretty simple image like a symbol, it is free of charge.

Q: Do you do monogramming and how much is it?
A: Yes I sure do. Cost is determined by the number of letters. If it is just initials, or a short message (10 letters) it's free. Longer messages will be an extra $5.

How can I tell the difference between embossed leather and hand tooled leather?

*Embossing is done by taking a metal plate with an image on it and pressing it with a lot of force onto a piece of damp leather. The leather dries and holds the shape or image.
*Tooling or carving is actually cutting into the leather and sculpting it with a variety of tools (swivel knife, beveler, seeder, mule foot, pear shader, etc). It is a much more labor intensive process, requiring an artisan's eye and experience to produce a favorable result.
*You can tell the difference between embossing and carving by closely examining the indentation around the image. If you see pattern marks (waffle, crosshatch), or a darker, burnished appearance, then it's probably handmade. Also, look for little tells like scuffs or slight variations.

What is the difference between the soft lined wallet and the veg tan lined wallet?

The soft lined wallet is made of pigskin which has a more cloth like feel. It can hold up to 12 cards and has 2 compartments for cash. It takes more time to make this type of lining than the veg tanned one so it costs a bit more.

The veg tan lined wallet's interior is cowhide which is stiffer. It holds 4 - 8 credit cards (8 will be a squeeze until the leather stretches) and does not have the extra divider in the cash pocket and costs less.
