The seller was very personable and even made a little drawing with his thank you note. I hope he does well with selling his art and that he gets in a gallery where he makes what he deserves!

About

French Horn Players, Bassoonists, and Oboists

I started my Etsy shop during a hot California summer, back in 2012, with the goal of having my art reach the wider world. I find myself drawing and painting either musicians or animals (and sometimes animal musicians). I can't explain why; my brush and pen want to paint heckelphones and hyenas.

One of the first drawings I remember creating when I was a kid was of a jazz band featuring a saxophonist, clarinetist, and trumpeter. It was drawn during a summer vacation in Spain, in a hotel situated in the area known as the Pinares de Oromana, near Alcalá de Guadaira. I later went on to play the clarinet in middle school, but I definitely found it easier on everyone's ears to draw clarinets instead of playing them.

I try to create illustrations that capture the rhythms and movements of musicians and instruments: instrument and player become one, a sort of musical deity or spirit composed of lines, colors, and shapes. I create a unique little band or mini-orchestra with each illustration, with various wind, string, and percussion instruments complementing each together. My background is in academia (I have a Master's in medieval history), so I enjoy researching and learning about new instruments: the unique curvature of an alto flute, the obscure saxtromba...

I'm also a cartoonist, and my graphic novels include the series known as the Theresiad: Altamira (divided into two large volumes), Ñandú, and Øyretrompet. Other comics include Ferrex and Porrex, In the Lamp District, Stratilayabout, and The Golden Helmsman.

Frequently asked questions

Gift wrapping and packaging

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message. To keep shipping and packaging costs down for you as a consumer, and to reduce any chance of scratching or breaking of frames, prints are not framed and unfortunately I don’t sell my work framed. You will just receive the illustration(s) in a strong tube. I apologize for the inconvenience. My goal is to keep my work affordable for you.

I can add a gift message/note at no extra charge for you.
