About

Medieval Inspired Creations

I never liked wood working.

It's true. Through high school and my teen years, there was nothing about wood working that had any interest for me. I'm not sure what it was that sparked the creativity in me a few years ago, but I'm hooked now. I'm active in my local Wood Turner's Guild where I live and am always amazed at the wonderful and amazing creative that I'm surrounded by. The city that I live in is a treasure trove of exceptionally talented artists and we feed off each other's creativity. It's a great feeling.

My inspiration for my own new pieces generally comes from the Viking era and medieval period - pretty much from the 9th through 12th Century in England. I like seeing what was done over one thousand years ago and how much of it is, amazingly, still relevant today. Fashionable designs may come and go, but a good honest bowl is a constant.

Much of what I make is not done in high-gloss and with extensive sanding. To me, wood should always feel organic and textured. High-gloss synthetic finishes just feel like plastic to me. My bowls and cups are smoothly finished, but only lightly sanded. The finishes I use too are also organic - oils and beeswax rather than chemical loaded polyurethanes. This keeps them food safe, but they do need a bit more care to look after. With that little bit of care, they'll serve you well for years to come. My own bowls that I use and abuse have seen many years of faithful service and will see many more.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my creations. I hope you enjoy them.

All of our products are, of course, hand made. That means there's some variation between every piece, even if we do a run of the same style.

Each wood turning has a character all its own. Wood, being an organic and formerly living thing, has bumps, flaws and little nuances. If I see something that adds character I may not sand it out entirely; This does not mean it's poorly finished. There's a certain beauty in non-conformity, and I love pieces that express that.

Accepted payment methods

  • Pay with Visa
  • Pay with Master Card
  • Pay with American Express
  • Pay with Discover
  • Pay with PayPal
  • Money Order
Payment
I gratefully accept PayPal for all purchases.

Money orders are also an option. However your order will not be shipped until I receive the payment in the mail and have it cleared by through the bank. This can add up to two weeks to your order.
Shipping
I typically ship via Canada Post unless other terms are agreed upon prior to completion of the sale. I strongly recommend insurance for your shipment. Any insurance will be an additional cost and if requested your order will not be shipped until the amount is paid. The slight extra cost that comes with it is generally well worth it.

For any shipments, all buyers are responsible for any and all duties/imports/taxes/customs charges/etc. that may apply. Wraith Studios is not, in any way, responsible for any additional fees that you may be responsible for in your country. I will not list the item as a "gift" or "sample". All items are properly and legally declared to Canada Customs.
Refunds and Exchanges
I require an email prior to any returns being sent.

In the event of a lost or damaged shipment, I will certainly work with you and the shipper (generally Canada Post) to resolve any disagreements to a mutual satisfaction.

In the event you're unhappy with a purchase, please let me know right away. I'll refund the cost of your purchase (less any PayPal service charges to us) once you ship the item back to me at your expense. The item needs to be un-used to qualify for a refund.
Additional policies and FAQs
I'm happy to take custom orders, but it all depends on my schedule and the availability of a suitable amount of material. As I deal with many organics, I'm often at the mercy of my suppliers to find the right piece to work with.
