About XceptionalPinatas

Hi, my name is Mercedes and I’m the owner of Xceptional Piñatas. I’m here to tell you my story…

When I started going to birthday parties with my kids, I noticed that most of the piñatas in the parties were very hard to break. I decided to invest some time to see if I could come up with a better option. The ideal piñata for me was one that was strong enough to resist a lot of hits, but at the same time was weak to be able to break little by little with every hit. I also envisioned a piñata that would hold a lot of candy and the candy to be released as the piñata was breaking to keep the kids’ attention.

After many months of thinking, I came up with an idea. I have improved the idea many times and the result of my hard work are the piñatas that you see today for sell in my page. Basically, my piñatas are made out of a structure covered by newspaper and decorated with tissue paper and other materials. My piñatas 99% recyclable. The only thing not recyclable is the hanging cord. Other than that, most products I use are paper based.

I have also taken the time to write an application for a provisional patent to see where my idea would take me. This means that Xceptional Piñatas has a unique way of making piñatas that no one else has.

In the next months I will be hard at work bringing new designs to you. Please stay tuned and check my page regularly.

I can’t wait to make my first sales here on Esty and see what many of you think about my piñatas.

I love math and that's why I studied engineering. But, before studying engineering, I was advised to follow a career where I use my hands. I would have never thought that many years later I would be here using my hand to create a product...

Frequently asked questions
How much does it take to make your piñatas?

All my piñatas are handmade to order. It takes me 3-5 business days to finish a piñata, depending on how busy business is.

How will your piñatas be shipped?

GROUND transportation will be used to ship all our 16-inch piñatas and Priority Mail will be used to ship our 12-inch pinatas.

How long do your piñatas take to arrive?

It depends on where you live and which shipping option your pinata is sent with. Piñatas are shipped from Pleasant Hill CA and may take seven or more business days to arrive at their destination if they are shipped with ground transportation. Priority Mail takes between 2-3 business days to arrive. Please plan your purchase.

What is the size of your piñatas?

We offer a 12-inch and a 16-inch round piñata. Please contact the owner if you would like to explore a bigger or smaller size piñata.

How much candy does your piñata hold?

Our 12-inch piñatas will hold up to 5 pounds of candy, and our 16-inch piñatas will hold up to 5 pounds of candy.

What are your recommendations for breaking your piñatas?

We recommend that you break the piñata with a piñata stick or with a wooden rod no longer than 30 inches.
Avoid using a baseball bat or a heavy object to break the piñata.
We also recommend that the piñata is hanged above eyesight of the participants. If the piñata is too low, the hanging cord may be hit and detach from the piñata, making the piñata no more useful.
Make sure to give the person breaking our piñata enough room to hit it and not hit the spectators.
Adult supervision is always required while breaking our piñatas.
