Yebisu's Shop Announcement

Welcome everybody! In my store there are plenty of antique and vintage items which can be well used for your handmade goods. I have a big stock of antique and rare swiss embroidery which were made between 1890 and 1950 in St.Gallen. Switzerland was once the largest and most important producer of embroidery. Around 1910 the embroidery production was the largest export branch of the Swiss economy. More than half of the world's production came from the region of St. Gallen. With the First World War, the demand for the luxury dropped suddenly and a lot of people were unemployed, which ended in the biggest economic crisis in this area. Today, the embroidery industry has somewhat recovered, but it hardly ever reach its former size again. Nevertheless, the St. Galler Spitzen (as the embroidery is also called) are still very popular as a raw material for expensive haute couture creations in Paris and Milano and count among the most famous textiles in the world.
