Announcement    What's on display in my shop? Photos and photomontage beautifully printed on aluminum. The category of photos is clear enough, but what are the photomontages? They are composites of photos blended together, to create another image.

If you have not seen prints on metal, you are in for a pleasant surprise. This form of presentation has a lot of oomph! The images gleam and seem to float off the wall, as they have a 1/2" float hanger on the back. Hang them on a sturdy nail - use a simple level (there are apps for that) to make sure they are straight, and you've added interest and accent to any room. I have posted some simulated room views, in which I have tried to approximate the proportions of my work at the smaller of whatever sizes are offered. The 24" x 30" will of course be larger. All of these works are open editions.

See much more artwork on my website: alysbriggs.net. If there is something which appeals, it can also be printed on aluminum.

    About YellowHouseStudio

The camera is my faithful companion.

My first camera was a Brownie when I was a kid - I even had a dark room (without running water) in my bedroom closet. The photos were typical family shots, camp, Christmas, etc. I don't remember what became of the camera, but when my sister and I took our first trip to Europe, our father lent us his Canon range finder, and I started my travel photo collection. Then when I got my first professional job, I bought a point and shoot, and then a light weight Pentax. My cameras became a little more sophisticated, but my eye did not. Then, the digital revolution arrived, and no longer having to worry about the cost of film, my photography became more imaginative.
When Photoshop came into my life, I became more adventuresome. At this point, my work is technically photography, but I now think of myself as more of a graphic artist who uses a camera as a tool. I find myself drawn to a variety of subjects, including cycles and museum goers (I look for some resonance between a particular work of art and the dress or person viewing the work). Sometimes what appeals is the atmosphere of a place. Other times, it is simply a pattern of colors in the scene before me. It gives me great pleasure to take these photos and to try to make them appealing to the eyes of others. For the past couple of years, I have been creating photomontages: a new image created from blending several photographs together. Sometimes the connection between the photographs is obvious, sometimes not, but in each I have sought to combine images with some thematic connection between them.

Aluminyze produces prints on aluminum by a dye sublimation process which infuses photographs into the coating of the metal. The prints are water, scratch, and UV resistant. They are mounted on a float hanger so that the images "float" off the wall.

Thank you for taking a look at my work. If you are curious about the content or provenance of any of the images, please let me know.

It is very difficult to convey the vibrancy and "float" quality of the prints on aluminum, even as backlight on a digital screen. You might go into a local photography shop or art gallery to see some examples of what printing on metal can look like. I do want buyers to be happy, hence my return policy.
