About

I do love to be here.

Artist Statement:

I use ethereal watercolours and stylized images of flora and fauna to capture temporary thoughts and heavy emotions. Each subject is very personal, yet familiar enough that the viewer sees in it what he or she wants to see. Other media assist in adding luxurious visual & tactile interest: layers of torn paper, "3D" details that pop out from the image, and organic patterns traced with thick gel medium. Light reflects off of iridescent spray ink, paint soaks into paper, and stitched threads entice me to run my fingers over them. I wish to transform daily experiences and negative emotions into a visual banquet of colours and textures. To offset life's darkness, we must create beauty.

About Me:

Melissa Peacock is an emerging artist who combines watercolour and other media to reflect the beauty in the world around her. She often uses saturated colour and imagery of flora and fauna in a whimsical contemporary style.

As an emerging artist of Surrey, BC, her work can often be found in juried exhibitions within the city, in her favourite local galleries run by the Surrey Arts Council. Her artwork is most commonly purchased online and sent to loving homes across North America.

Melissa studied at Kwantlen University College, focusing on studio arts and colour theory, but left the school in 2010 to play with cakes and cookies at Vancouver Community College.

Melissa was born and raised in Surrey, surrounded by amazing artists and just a stone's throw away from the city of Vancouver. She seldom imagines herself living anywhere else.

I believe that art should be accessible to everyone, and not exclusive to serious collectors and investors.

As someone who loves art, I find it difficult to find beautiful items at an affordable price. By working with smaller sizes, I wish to offer such an arrangement to you! I am offering smaller, unframed paintings on paper.

I want my art to be available to as many people as possible, so I am also offering small, vibrant photo reproductions.

If you are interested in my art but would prefer something more practical, I also have lovely 8x8" art journals in my shop! Each one is made by hand using Stonehenge multimedia paper, and uniquely decorated with my own artistic flourish. It's art you can actually put to use :)

Returns and exchange details
I try to be as detailed as I can in product descriptions. With that in mind...

If it arrives damaged: Please let me know immediatly! Heartbreaking, but I know that canada post is not gentle with letters/packages. I will give the full refund, but I must ask that the damaged item be returned to me first :(

If item never arrives to you: I accept this as my problem and will take responsibility for it. Please wait through the delivery estimation (particularly during holidays) fully before making the claim. I will be keeping track.

For a change of heart: I cannot be held responsible for a sudden change of heart for an accurately described item. Please leave enough time for shipment and read descriptions thoroughly! I'm also not responsible for customs/import related fees. Feel free to refuse delivery or otherwise return an item for refund **less shipping fees in this case**
Payment
Paypal is preferred.

If you commit to buy, but no payment attempt takes place, the order will be cancelled after a week. If something comes up, by all means drop me a line! I'm a reasonable person. :)

Yes, I am open to the idea of a layaway plan. Send me a convo.
Shipping
Currently I am using standard Canada Post, and am able to ship within a day or two.

(Please keep in mind that your country may charge you a duty fee as your purchase goes through customs. I mark my parcels "merchandise" as law requires it.)

Local: 2-5 days
Within Canada: 4-10 days
To USA: 1-2 weeks
International: 2-3 weeks
(according to Canada Post website)

Feel free to contact me about emergency rushes, special instructions, address changes, etc through convo.

Q: Why is shipping so high on art journals?
A: Canada Post is expensive! I usually ship these using Small Packet Air. Unfortunately for fellow Canadians, Small Packet is not available to us and must be sent Parcel Post.

This Privacy Policy describes how and when I collect, use, and share information when you purchase an item from me, contact me, or otherwise use my services through Etsy.com or its related sites and services.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that I do not own or control, including Etsy or any third party services you access through Etsy. You can reference the Etsy Privacy Policy to learn more about its privacy practices.

1. INFORMATION I COLLECT

To fulfill your order, you must provide me with certain information (which you authorized Etsy to provide to me), such as your name, email address, postal address and the details of the product that you’re ordering. You may also choose to provide me with additional personal information (for a custom order, for example), if you contact me directly.

2. WHY I NEED YOUR INFORMATION & HOW I USE IT

I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:
- as needed to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfill your order, to settle disputes, or to provide customer support;
- when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up for my mailing list;
- if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law;
- as necessary for the purpose of my legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as 1) providing and improving my services. I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest to improve my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.

3. INFORMATION SHARING & DISCLOSURE

Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:
- Etsy. I share information with Etsy as necessary to provide you with my services and comply with my obligations under both the Etsy Seller Policy and Etsy Terms of Use.
- Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to my shop, such as delivery companies. I will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
- Business transfers. If I sell or merge my business, I may disclose your information as part of that transaction, only to the extent permitted by law.
- Compliance with laws. I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.
- Data Retention. I retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements. I generally keep your data for up to7 years (as required by UK tax law).
- Transfers of Personal Information Outside the EU. I may store and process your information through third-party hosting services in the US and other jurisdictions. As a result, I may transfer your personal information to a jurisdiction with different data protection and government surveillance laws than your jurisdiction. If I am deemed to transfer information about you outside of the EU, I rely on Privacy Shield as the legal basis for the transfer, as Google Cloud is Privacy Shield certified.

4. YOUR RIGHTS

If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:
- Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.
- Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Apart from exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.
- Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.
- Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.
