About

Where Storytelling Meets Metal

After graduating with a BFA in Craft and Material Studies from VCU, I joined a shared studio space with a few other alumni in my home city of Richmond, Virginia. Creating in a space with other artists drives me to make my work better. There is always someone around to give you a quick critique or suggest a different way of looking at a piece.
My current line of enameled jewelry was born from my love of working with both fiber and metal. To create the abstract shapes, I looked at deteriorating textiles and made line drawings. While original fiber will continue to degrade, it's metal counterpart will remain in it's shape---because of this, I think of them as a bit of a memento mori. The dotting pattern is achieved with a special mix of vintage enamel and the earthy color palette is inspired by the natural patina that occurs as copper oxidizes.
