I now have a few Yellow Reformation necklaces. I love everything Dawn makes! This custom raw crystal "Be" necklace was around me neck my whole stay in Vancouver, diffusing Cedarwood and Lavender essential oils to keep my anxiety at bay. It's beautiful, functional, and super funky. Thank you Dawn!

About

WHY ARE WE A MOVEMENT:

WHY ARE WE A MOVEMENT?

In 2001, I started dreaming about being a part of a creative movement, an artisan-type guild, where each one's gift sharpened & expanded the other's gift, creating together as a community, with the intention of affecting change in their individual spheres of influence.
For many years I have simply pined for it, and finally I have learned that sometimes you have to begin to offer the water you are thirsty for, instead of waiting for someone to bring it to you-and so, here enters Yellow Reformation.
Almost everyone asks me, "why Yellow Reformation?" Granted, it is rather an other-than kind of name, but Yellow Reformation is about connecting with an Other-Than God, connecting to His glory, His goodness, His light, and to create something with Him; and in turn, release it into the atmosphere. So, Yellow reminds me of light, and of the glory with which we are made to connect.

THE BACK STORY

About 10 years ago, a friend entered into my life, and she forever changed it. She opened up to me a world of color that I had secretly hoped was inside of me, but had lacked the courage to find out. She wore a leather cuff that inspired me so that I finally decided to do something about it, and I began to experiment with different textiles, and create my own cuffs. I dreamed about what it might look like to create pieces that carried a piece of God on it. What it might look like to get words and phrases directly from Him to use and shift atmospheres with them. I would daydream about celebrities wearing these pieces, and many being drawn to these words and phrases, not really knowing why, and that those very words would carry His heart, His presence, His touch. Change.

CHANGING CULTURE WITH COLOR LOOKS LIKE

People talk a lot about change, about doing something, and making a difference. And we do need to see change, but authentic change is generated in individual hearts before it impacts a generation. So, how do we see culture re-formed? How can we be a part? The most pivotal thing we can do is let the light in, and when we do, color is bound to appear. This brings me to our tagline, which I also get a lot of questions about: changing culture with color. Essentially, we are made to be light-bearers. Light itself carries the full spectrum of color, and color simply happens when light hits any object in it's path. Light, in essence, releases color. We all have a specific color that we are made to offer the world in which we live. We are salt. We are light. We have the privilege of offering flavor and color to the world around us, and to affect the atmosphere with it.

I dream of being a part of a movement of people, a creative community, a family of artisans, who are passionate about letting the light in and releasing the color that happens when they do. And so I bring to you the potential of a Yellow Reformation. Will you join me? Imagine what it could look like to change culture with color…

Grace, grace,
Dawn Verhey [founder and head designer of Yellow Reformation]
