Welcome to Yestergoods! I hope you are enjoying browsing through my selection of handcrafted decoupage plates. I have divided my plates into two design categories: “Unique Designs” and “Original Designs.”

“Unique Designs” are made with actual sheet music rather than a reproduction or photocopy. I like the history of this … some of the music I work with is over 100 years old … at one time it had a place of honor on someone’s piano in a corner of the parlor … folks used to stand around the keyboard and sing this song, looking at this piece of paper, singing these notes, and these words. Then, after years of languishing in a cardboard box in a basement somewhere … it is now reborn on this plate, so it can see the light of day and be enjoyed in a new way!

Each plate is unique. While I may be lucky enough to find another copy of the same music, and I may therefore create another plate that is similar, the nature of “handcrafted item” means that no two are exactly alike. Because of the creative design process involved, the amount of time invested in intricate cutting and assembly work, and because the plate is unique, these designs are offered at a higher price point than “Original Designs.”

Each plate is beautiful but not “slick.” While modern items are conveniently and efficiently made by machines and assembly-line robots … art isn’t. Nature isn’t perfect and neither am I. You may see the incision marks that I made with my Xacto knife while cutting the designs… you may see small frays and tears that are natural on decades-old paper … and you’ll see the way all those little things come together to make something beautiful.

“Original Designs” are made by using a combination of techniques to create a collage which is then decoupaged onto the plate. As with my “Unique Designs,” I always start with original vintage sheet music, the same music that someone used decades ago to sing and play beautiful music. I go through the same creative design process, deciding how best to feature the most striking elements of the sheet music and cover art that is in my hand. Then, instead of cutting and pasting the actual sheet music, I bring in modern technology to help me create certain effects. I will use a combination of scanners, graphic software, and copy machines to create translucent, overlapping layers of the graphics, illustrations, and music notes. In this way I am able to create a collage that takes the image beyond what the original sheet music offered. The final collage is then printed onto high-quality paper and decoupaged onto the plate. Because I am able to print additional copies of this collage and can therefore reproduce the same plate design again in the future, I offer these “Original Designs” at a lower price point. The artistry and quality remain the same as in my “Unique Designs,” but the item is not one-of-a-kind, unique, as those that I offer at a higher price point.

Please read my Shop Policies, but know that the bottom line is I will do whatever I can to make you a happy, satisfied customer. I hope you will return to my shop often, and recommend to your friends to visit YESTERGOODS on Etsy.

The items I sell are made of glass and are therefore very fragile. I provide appropriate packing material to assure the safe shipment of these items. Each plate is wrapped in multiple layers of protective wrapping and placed in a new, sturdy cardboard box. That box is then placed – with proper cushioning material – inside a larger shipping box (new, not re-used), and sealed securely.
