Kathy was so great to work with when I purchased two of her custom hammered sterling silver bands. I was able to email her and work with her on my designs, and she took as much care in packaging the rings as she do when she created them. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for hand crafted jewelry!

About

Real Silver & Real Gems

I focus on designs that require small amounts of silver, not just because the price of silver, but because I hope to keep the end price comfortable for customers looking for wearable art with genuine gems and real silver, keepsakes to last for years without breaking the bank. I enjoy the challenge of limited material, which demands focus on detail and design.

After enrolling in a course on gemstone identification, my passion for colored gemstones drove me to find a way to make jewelry designed specifically to showcase the beauty of each genuine gem. I prefer simple settings that show off a nice big beautiful gem and I was craving the freedom to design my own. That’s when I discovered Silver Art Clay, which opened up a whole new world of my own original designs of gemstones set in silver.

My collections include designs with Sterling Silver, Fine Silver, 14K Gold and Copper. My design style, is delicate and elegant, but structurally strong. I love rustic and organic looking jewelry, a bit shabby chic. I use a minimalist approach to interpret themes of Nature and hope to spark the imagination of my customers to see a special meaning in the pieces they select.

Designer made original art jewelry. Handmade, period. Real handmade, by me.

Gemstones are timeless treasures. Gemstone jewelry allows us to admire the beauty of the gems we collect without losing the gems or storing them away in little cases. There is great pride in owning fine pieces of jewelry as well gorgeous gemstones. Most genuine gems are mined at exotic, far away places. Some gems are rare, some are difficult to obtain, all have a story!

Giving the gift of fine gemstone jewelry is a wonderful way to express love, friendship and devotion. Collecting gemstone jewelry is a way to pass along something special to your children and is very rewarding.

I have selected my suppliers very carefully to ensure my gems are genuine and you can trust that each gem is carefully inspected. The same quality material would be marked much, much higher anywhere else at retail stores.

Not only are the finest, first rate gemstones and precious metals used to design my jewelry, I also take great care to fashion the jewelry into a stunning piece of art! Each step requires meticulous hands-on work. From designing the piece, carefully inspecting each gemstone for color, cut, clarity and carat weight to finishing and polishing each piece to perfection. No short cuts in this line of work, and no imitations! Natural gemstones are sometimes “treated” to make them more desirable or stable, which is an accepted practice in the industry. I will always disclose any treatments.

I look forward to beginning a long-lasting relationship with my customers. I started out designing jewelry for myself, family and friends as gifts and collector pieces. I specialize in birthstone jewelry and custom work. I hope you will consider me your “friend in the jewelry business” to come to whenever you need fine jewelry at super affordable prices.

All jewelry items are shipped USPS. If an item is ready, it is normally shipped the next day. Otherwise, please allow 7-10 business days for processing your handmade item. {{Handmade metal stamps take 2 months approx to ship, not that they take that long to make but because of the volume of stamps ordered all at once. NOTE FOR HOLIDAY SEASON: Jewelry Orders placed by Dec 10th will ship in time to arrive for Christmas (US delivery). Orders placed after Dec 10th may still arrive in time, as I will continue to complete orders in the order received. Additional policies and FAQs
Package details: I have begun to use recycled packaging and paper gift boxes. This type of material is lower cost and friendlier to the environment. Request upgraded fancy gift boxes and I will customize your order.

If you would like to have your item shipped to an alternate address, please contact me right after the order is placed to make arrangements.

York Avenue Studio items are not intended for children under the age of 12
Please be aware that many items contain small parts and components and are not toys.

I DO NOT recommend using jewelry dips to clean fine silver. This may leave a residue and white crust which is difficult to remove. I professionally polish each piece with great care and would only recomend that if needed, rub gently with a soft, lint-free cloth. If you've already used a dip and regret the results, convo me for some suggestions. Each of my items will last for years with the proper care. Cleaning often also gives you a chance to check the settings to make sure they are still secure.
