About

It all started with an offhand comment...

During a phone conversation at lunch one day, we threw around the idea of starting our own yarn company. We joked about what we'd call it and how it would all work. I didn't think he had actually taken me seriously until I found myself unemployed. That's when the serious discussions began...

I've been a knitter and a crocheter for many years. As most of us do, I started out using whatever yarn I could afford at the time. Eventually, I became much more picky about what I used and developed a serious love of hand dyed yarns in the process. I've taken classes, read and studied every source I could find, and have even dyed with kool aid and food coloring. I now use commercial grade acid dyes to give each creation the most vivid color possible and make every colorway look its best.

We were both raised in southwestern Pennsylvania, and we chose to make our home in the Youghiogheny River valley. Our families have both been here for several generations, and we can't imagine living anywhere else right now. There is color everywhere you look no matter what season it is!

We are committed to creating beautiful hand dyed and painted yarns crafted in small batches in our basement studio for all your knitting, crochet or weaving needs. If you are looking for a specific color or require a larger quantity than we have listed, please contact us! We'll be happy to work with you.

Nestled in the Youghiogheny River valley, Youghiogheny Yarns is the creation of husband and wife team, Todd & Keri Fosbrink. Both were raised in southwestern Pennsylvania and have strong family ties here.

Keri is an avid knitter and crocheter who has dabbled with various types of hand dying over the years. She comes from a long line of hand crafters. Her love of handmade items and inspiring colorways is what prompted them to start Youghiogheny Yarns.

Every yarn is hand dyed or painted in small batches in their basement studio. When ordering, please remember to order enough for your project. Replicating a color exactly may not be possible. This is the beautiful nature of hand dyed and painted yarns.

Color is everywhere in the Youghiogheny valley no matter the season, and Youghiogheny Yarns wants to help you bring some of that color into your life and projects. From our tight knit family to yours...happy crafting!
