I had waffled on buying the necklace for a while, because I usually like trying on jewlery before I buy, but after combing Etsy for months, I knew this was the *one*. The seller was very communicative, resolving several Etsy-related hiccups with me over the course of the transaction both quickly and with grace. The item arrived beautifully packaged, and the necklace has become part of my everyday wear. The chain is gorgeous and put together with obvious thought. The pendant itself is sturdy and has some weight to it, but not in a distracting way (it's small - a little larger than the size of a dime). It's smaller than some other wax-seal style necklaces, and that gives it a slightly more delicate look, especially with the clarity of the lines. I would absolutely buy from this seller again.

Wax Seal Jewelry: Art, Craft, and History

Thanks for reading!
One by one, I make modern heirlooms by hand; jewelry crafted with the intention of becoming a part of your history. I use antique wax seal stamps to make recycled sterling silver jewelry with profound meanings. Many pendants become personal talisman with proverbs or mottoes my customers connect with, and love wearing every day.

Additionally, I make unusual wax seal initial and monogram necklaces that make very well received gifts! I craft one of a kind artisan pendants with colorful gemstones and I have a growing line of jewelry for men. Lastly, I sell supplies and accessories to help you create or enhance your own designs.

I started making jewelry as a hobby; just for fun, while also working at my very fulfilling job as a pediatric physical therapist. Over time I found I could not wait to get back to my jewelry bench. I had so many designs in my head and loved the feeling of metal in my hands.

Then I discovered wax seal stamps and my obsession with jewelry was complete. Creating jwelry using these stamps became the perfect melding of my love of history and my favorite creative endeavor!

Oh what stories these antique wax seals must have to tell.

As a PT, I treated patients with severe neurological issues. Each day I received so much more back than I gave and loved my job and career path. Unexpectedly, the physical demands of being a PT became too much for me. I am so lucky I had been building my skills as a jewelry maker, never dreaming I would need to give up my beloved and fulfilling job as a PT, and make my living in a whole new way one day.

I began a new kind of life as a full time jewelry maker; never imagining how much there was to learn about running a business! I never even knew what a "Tweet" was and had to educate myself in the weird world of social media and internet marketing to sell jewelry, and never mind the daunting challenges of becoming a skilled jeweler.

My fortuitous result: I consider myself blessed and lucky to feel fulfilled making a living doing something I absolutely love… twice!

Today, I have merged formal jewelry technique training with my early, roughly honed techniques to develop a style that reflects who I am and makes me, and my customers really happy!

Each and every piece is made by hand, by me alone, in my home studio in NJ. My back yard is actually NY! People who haven't seen my shop often ask me what my style is and I smile and describe it as,

" perfectly imperfect" or "meticulously rough around the edges."

The majority of my business comes from custom orders and repeat customers. The more I get to know my customer and engage them in the design process, the more their piece of jewelry becomes part of them.

I purchase certain types of clasps, ear wires, gemstones, ribbon, and bulk chain from jewelry supply companies. Most from suppliers right here on Etsy. However, when I do, these "findings" are used solely as ancillary parts of my handmade jewelry.

One sentence about me:
I may not put on makeup everyday, but I would never be caught without jewelry.

I hope you come back soon! I am so happy you have visited.

Frequently asked questions

Sizing details

PLEASE Check the dimensions of jewelry before you order.
It is hard to gauge actual size from photos taken with a macro (magnified) setting. Picture are enlarged to show detail.

Many pendants I make are crafted using very old and small antiques or ancient relics to form an impression. Thus, some words on your pendant may not be clearly read with the naked eye. The meaning remains your secret to keep or share.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Your purchase will arrive in a reusable muslin sac.
However, I am happy to ready your purchase for gifting with a lovely box and ribbons. Please contact me if you need gift packaging.

I try to re-use shipping/packing materials where I can, to lower my carbon footprint and waste. Your package may arrive in a padded envelope that does not look perfect, or a new and suitable one that you can re-use.

Custom and personalized orders

Making jewelry to order takes time. My turn-around time fluctuates during the year, but is always at least five business days before I ship. I post current turnaround times in my shop announcement on page one of the shop.

Feel free to ask for a shipping date estimate upon ordering.

I do not charge extra for a 'RUSH' order. Please let me know your deadline and I will do my best to accommodate - only if possible - no promises!

Custom and personalized items are not returnable. This includes all initials, pendants with reverse patterns and chains sold by length. Please contact me if you have an issue with your purchase.

Care instructions

I sell "oxidized" or antiqued jewelry with a patina from a hand applied process that results in the great antique effect you see.

Don't use silver polish or you may remove some of the "aged" effect.

Sterling oxidizes (darkens) naturally over time. To clean and polish, use a dry silver polishing cloth.
Sterling chains brighten up with mild soap and water.

Your jewelry's patina will change over the years. If it is not how you once loved it, I am happy to re-vamp it and get the patina back to the way you like. No charge except shipping. You can contact me at any point for this free service.

Handmade jewelry is made with care and thus, must be worn with care.
